MacBook Air was as described! Performance is great. Read and write speed to and from external USB and SSD drives is a giant leap from the speed of Intel i7 MacBook Pro. MS Office has been updated and works flawlessly with the M1 chip of the new MacBook Air. If one plans to use it beyond basic applications (Mail, MS Office, Adobe apps like Photoshop etc.), do not despair. Just like in the old good times before Apple switched to Intel chips, there is Rosetta 2, which will run software written for Intel architecture just as good as on MacBooks with Intel chips.

Received my M1 Macbook Air 2020, good packaging. However, the unit only last for 4-5 hours max, and this is just under lite usage. This use is as per advertised 8 clicks of brightness and just streaming 720p or 1080p video stream from YouTube. No other processes running at all, and consulted with Apple online support at least 3 times and does not solve my issue, numerous technical aspects were asked and which make doubt whether the unit really can last even at least 10 hours out of box, or need special coding experience to reprogram the unit to get it able to last 10-18 hours. Decided to return the unit back and repurchase. Too much hassle to get it repaired which requires appointment and don't know what's next to expect. I need at least 10 hours of charge so my son can use it while at school when away from any charging ports. But 4-5 hours for just web browsing without doing anything else is far below expectation for so called next generation M1 Macbook Air 2020

Better than I expected. Everything works very smoothly. Battery life is great. I connect to the charger at night and then use it all day on battery and at the end of the day there is still 30% left! Screen, keyboard, and speakers are excellent. When generating a video, there is no fan noise and the laptop does not get warm let alone hot; generates a 10 minutes 1080p video in about 5 minutes. Of course some apps do not work at all, and some like Microsoft ToDo keep dying unexpectedly. Microsoft OneDrive works but is very slow; hopefully better when optimized for the M1 processor; usable for now. Microsoft Office works well and my video editor Filmora X runs natively on M1, so very smooth. The only frustration is lack of ports; really miss a card reader and I wish there was at least one USB A port so I could connect my mobile phone, my external hard drive easily. If like me you also use a Windows laptop, then format the external hard drive using exFAT and then it works on both types of laptops just fine. My programming environment which is mainly Python does not work yet, so if you do a lot of development, check if all parts of your stack have been ported to the new M processor. This is one of those devices that you enjoy using :)

Great product! With M1 chip new Mac is designed to outperform in battery standby and performance. Yet it’s very compact machine. Extremely happy !!!!

Great notebook, excellent keyboard, stunning screen, massive trackpad, fast, cool and silent.So far everything has worked for using either native apps or Rosetta 2.

I can easily give 5 stars. I bought this 1 month ago on a good offer. As a developer i was scared to buy this before due to doubt created weather this is supporting most of the development tools or not and how is performing. So far i can do all of my tasks at blazing speed. Such a premium experience. I never felt there is no fan on macbook air. No noise and no heat.
