Now that the airlines (US Domestic) charge $25 per bag plus overweight fees, travelling without a high quality and easy to use scale is well, kinda dumb.The cost of an overweight be can be $25. That's right, 1# over and it'll cost you $25 for the 1#.So I bought this scale for around $20 as an insurance policy that I'd never go over in bag weight. And it worked.Prior to our trip, I was packing for my family of 5 and I wanted to have the smallest footprint for luggage and not be overweight in each bag. We bought new hard clam-shell type luggage (max recommended size is 26" so you can't over pack it). We filled two clam shells and one garment bag and used our scale to distribute weight evenly between all bags.We were highly successful using this scale and its readings were spot on with UAL's scales upon check-in.This scale is light weight, super portable and easy to use. It's fast, efficient and measures bag weight quickly and it's easy to read on the unit's display.On our trip, we took this scale with us to ensure on our return flights we were within weight guidelines. And we were.This scale makes travelling easy and removes all the "are my bags overweight" mystery game at check in a non-issue.If you're only going to travel once, buy it. My thoughts were why ever pay an overweight bag fee when you can own this scale for $5 less and NEVER travel with an overweight bag.And on a side note, it made my wife pack more efficiently that she's ever packed. You only take what you truly need when you know the cost of extra bags and overweight fees are just not worth the hassle.Truly this is one great purchase and I plan to use it for years to come. Super easy to use, well made, quality product and highly portable. And you'll save on never having to pay an overweight fee and you'll probably travel with fewer bags because of it.****Update 20180906****Eight years later and this little scale has thousands of miles on her and still works like a charm. Probably replaced batteries twice now and haven't paid an overweight bag fee since buying this.On a recent trip one of our bags was 49 pounds when weighed at home. Checked in the bag and the United scale read 49 pounds too. When the bag agent saw the reading she admired our ability to max the bag's weight as she placed the HEAVY tag on the bah's handle.If you're looking for a reliable and light-weight travel scale, this one is still my top pick. This the 2nd or 3rd time I've bought this scale. I love this thing, its accurate, sturdy, easy to read, easy to turn on and off, easy to clip on a bag and weigh it and super handy. 1. Turn it on, 2. Clip it on your bag, 3. lift, 4. wait for the scale to get the weight and you get the weight of your bag. I leave it in my suitcase so I have it all the time when I leave on a trip. I don't have to guess what my weight of each suitcase weighs. I don't get to the airport and have to shuffle any items around to get under the weight limit. If you don't have a scale this is a good one to get.

First, the scale is very functional and intuitive and serves the purpose well for me. I have been using this for over 5 years and got few more for parents and in-laws, as this is a very essential item to measure luggage weight before you travel. They have also been happy.Now for the product considerations-WEIGHT READING: The READINGS are ACCURATE and I have generally not had a problem. 9 out of 10 times the reading matches well with what the airport luggage scale reads. The only times I have had some mismatch was when weight is not measured correctly – ex: I saw my father trying to weigh his luggage but his body was touching the luggage itself, leading to some inaccuracy.The readings start showing up as you pick up the weight and would stay for some time if you hold the luggage a few seconds above the ground. Requires some upper body strength to hold though.EASE OF USAGE: It is a grip luggage scale, which means that you have to pick and hold the luggage. If the luggage is heavy then you have to expend the extra energy to weigh. For that reason some people in the family found it hard to use it for heavy luggage measurement. That however, would be a problem with any grip luggage scale. If you travel often with heavy luggage and are not comfortable picking heavy luggage even for a few seconds (especially older people), look elsewhere and see if you can find a weighing scale on which you can keep the weight for measurement. It may not be a lot for people with good upper body strength, but I would understand if someone is not comfortable with weight lifting - no point giving your heart a hard time!DESIGN: The product description says it is a two-handed design but handle grip is small-ish. That being said you do not really have to hold the grip from the top, but you can cover the sides as well in a 2-handed operation– the design of the product allows for that.BATTERY: The battery works well, but may die down for lack of usage. Replacement is easy, and you can find cheap replacements at any watch shop or Amazon (obviously).Second, the company is excellent in terms of customer outreach, issue resolution and response. I have brought multiple products from the company including luggage scale and weighing scale.When one of the scales stopped working after moderate usage, I dropped a note to the company asking if anything can be done.They asked a few questions and checked for warranty and told me they will ship a new one to me.Few days down the line I receive the replacement. This is what I call excellent customer service and builds long term trust and relationship.For this reason, the product gets 4 stars (slight difficulty of usage for older folks). And the company gets 5 stars for excellent customer service.Overall – 5 stars.Hope this is helpful!

This handheld scale looks firm and sturdy with nice design. Comes with secure strap and buckle to hold a sizeable luggage. Ease of grip, easy to use and easy to read the scale.

Tengo una báscula para mis maletas que funciona muy bien cuando peso mis maletas del extranjero a México, pero de México al extranjero,(para variar) la báscula siempre es inexacta, por lo que tengo que dejar las maletas hasta con 2 kilos menos para que pasen al pesarlas en las aerolíneas. Vi que esta báscula era la más exacta y parecida a las básculas de las aerolíneas, fácil de usar y decidí comprarla. La báscula es muy exacta, pero el "bip" que debe sonar cuando ya está listo el peso, no se oye y es demasiado grande para guardarse en cualquier lado; aparte de que sólo tiene uno 20 segundos para ver el peso en la pantalla, si 2 personas quieren ver el peso, ¡olvídenlo!
