Great for Musicians
Perfect for building grip for drummers. Helps with keeping drumsticks from flying off - the reason for those warning posters. Also helps builds the fingering technique in manipulating the drumstick [good for any musician really]. Builds strength and endurance in the individual fingers and hand as a whole.

Best finger grip trainer I've ever used
This is, hands down, the best finger grip trainer I've ever used.It is comfortable, it stays completely straight when you compress it without any "slop", and being able to adjust the tension is a great feature on its own, but even better that you can do it on each finger (my pinky is especially happy about that feature). Also, don't worry about the lowest setting being too high, unless you are in therapy with a very weak grip. The "medium" and "5 pound" claims for the low end of this trainer are highly exaggerated. The maximum setting is much, much more than twice the tension of the lowest setting, no matter what they are claiming. I suspect that the lowest setting is not well tested (they probably test the highest setting, which is pretty close to the 9 pound claim), so they simply claim "5 pounds" because they know that's a safe claim (I'd say it's less than 3 pounds, easy). Even if you have a weak pinky finger or weak grip overall, I think this will work well for you...so unless you are in serious rehab, I wouldn't even consider a lighter version. You may want to consider the heavier version. Although the description on this one claims "medium to xtra heavy," I disagree. More like "light to heavy." I am not a body builder (at all) but I'm already at maximum tension on everything but my pinky. It's a good resistance for me, so not a major issue, but there is nowhere for me to go up when that tension becomes too easy. I am not a particularly strong person (average-ish), so I think a lot of people will be even worse off it they think this is actually "xtra heavy."The heavier variant is the varigrip sports pro (also the therapy xtra heavy...I am skeptical that there is actually any difference...they look identical and have an identical claimed range of "9 to 12 pounds"). I haven't actually used it, but I think I would have been better off with that one set on a low setting rather than this one set on the highest setting. I also suspect that the lowest setting would be less than 9 pounds, just like the lowest setting on this one is not 5 pounds. If you have already done some finger training and you don't have any issues with a medium to heavy grip trainer, you should probably get the xtra heavy version instead. However, I absolutely and without reserve recommend this brand and style...the only question is which tension you should buy.

Everyone should have one of these.
I've been using vari grip for 2 weeks now and I can tell the difference. It has improved my finger strength ,especially on my left hand . I just started playing guitar and noticed I needed to get the left hand up to speed. It's working ,much easier time pressing on the strings, and since the resistance is independent to each finger, you can build strength and coordination at the same time. But besides improving my guitar skills, my overall hand strength is better. Something you should never take for granted.

works good for individual finger exercise!
I'm using this exerciser to develop hand strength/finger dexterity for shooting a pistole. This item is excellent for isolating my trigger finger movement and building its strength. Instead of lighting the trigger spring pressure to make the trigger easier to pull/press, it is far better/safer to build the strength of your trigger finger instead! The tension adjustment feature works well, but only gives you about 4 to 6 lbs. of adjustment range for each finger, (still good for pulling a pistol trigger). When 1st. using this hand exerciser, all of my fingers were moving when I worked my trigger finger, (not what you want). After a few days of practicing with this exerciser, I started isolating and only moving my trigger finger, while the rest of my hand just gripped the other 3 spring plungers. All these little things we do to help us shoot better, HELP US SHOOT BETTER! Good luck people.

Flexibility
I'm a 69yo female and went from stiff hands and fingers and unable to grip a jar lid, to being able to snap my fingers and opening most jars. And it didn't take but a few minutes daily for a few weeks. Place it somewhere where you will remember to use it ... nightstand, end table, wherever. As long as you use it. My hands and fingers feel so much better. I even type more accurately!!!

Useless to me as a piano player
I got this specifically to help increase the strength of my fingers because I am a piano player. It’s basically useless for that. However, it is good if you don’t use your hands often enough or you want to do hundreds of reps on each finger, but it’s not good if you need something with a lot of resistance. Maybe after having broken a finger or maybe if you’re just someone that doesn’t need a lot of finger strength day to day.I have the resistance all the way up (supposedly 9 lbs) and the only one that was a slight challenge were my pinkies and it wasn’t even that challenging. I had to sit there for 20 minutes to get a burn and that’s honestly not what I wanted. I was hoping for something with very high resistance that I could use for maybe 5 min a day (both hands). The quality is also not great. It’s pretty cheap plastic and doesn’t feel weighted or solid in your hand.I have used other resistance grips before that were far superior. If you’re a musician, I would recommend you look for a grip with more resistance and a sturdier design than this one. I would return if I could.
