Does it even need a walking foot?** A: I've been using the "DREAMSTITCH 395721-93 High Shank Evan Feed Walking Foot for Elna,Janome Sewing Machine" and it works fine. It's a high shank machine, so just make sure any walking foot you buy is also high shank. When I went into a quilting store to look at this machine, they said that this machine "doesn't need" a walking foot because of its even feed system, or something like that. But for quilting, I think you really do need one, and the one I mentioned above is far cheaper than the Janome high-shank walking foot. Good luck! **Q: New machine, needle threader breaks the thread before it goes into the needle? I know how to use these.** A: I bought all new thread to rectify a similar problem. Also my sewing machine doesn't like embroidery thread - snaps off a lot. Check your needle position before lowering automatic needle threader. Check to see if the hook is damaged or bent. Check that you are coming up and under the hook and the hook is thru the eye of the needle. Pull that lever back slowly and pull the back loop of thread thru. That hook is sharp...it is possible to puncture the thread. **Q: I've only used a manual machine, is this easy to figure out and use?** A: It comes with a good manual. As long as you take the time to read through it. You should be able to use it just fine. **Q: Does this machine have an auto needle threader?** A: Yes it has a needle threader that you operate with 1 hand. I purchased the first locally from a sewing machine store 8 years ago and have used it almost nonstop making quilts, bags, etc. When my first Skyline wouldn't turn on this summer, I took it to the local repair shop and it was the power supply that needed replaced. The part was on backorder indefinitely. So I looked on Amazon to see if they had a Janome Skyline S3 just like my old one, and they did! I was so excited to get another one because I just love this model. I did finally get my old one back from the shop, so now I have two.
