I did not like now the Classic felt, and the cutting blade was awkward for a paring knife. This one feels completely organic in the hand, the shape and size are perfect, and has the typical high Shun quality. Best feel for close up and detailed work. Definitely one of my top three knives, and will end up surviving the knife purge for sure. Attached pictures of both for comparison.

It is not uncomfortable, but not the most ergonomic either. (I love the look) This is hand made in Japan with Japanese steel (see picture.) The laser etched writing is very clear and proof of where it is made. Out of the box, this knife shaved my arm. Honestly, it’s scary sharp. Measurements are true to description. After months of using this I can confirm this is a fantastic paring knife. It’s sharpens easy on a kitchen steel and the tip has proved very durable. We use it for everything from fruit to meat.

I bought this paring knife because I own many Shun’s. I wasn’t impressed with this. It doesn’t seem to hold an edge well and isn’t as balanced in the hand that I would like.
