WEAK this will not protect your face
I ignored a lot of reviews and people on online forums talking about how weak the face shield is and how it will fall off on a crash. I thought they were doing extreme jumps and that's why the helmet failed. I ordered this and I was wrong. You can rip the face shield right off the helmet with minimal effort. This helmet is FAR from being DH or Eduro safe. The top part that protects the head is solid, like other helmets this brand makes, but the face shield .... forget about it.Also, fit is not great. Every brand you can think of, their Medium helmets fit me great. This one fits tight, and I mean tight to the point I cant wear it for more than 10 minutes. Again, the problem is not the top, but the face shield piece.Save your time and money. I ended up purchasing a BELL Super DH. It is a lot more solid and a better fit.Let me clarify this: I was never expecting this to the to be the ultimate do it all helmet, crash against a tree and laugh. I understand there are weaknesses with these types of design. The Bell also has weaknesses. What I did not expect was something that was as fragile as this helmet. And the DH certifications ... forget about those. I dont know how they certify it, but it is clearly a poor thought out certification that will hurt people.

Chin guard is only held together by a small layer of plastic. Cheap and dangerous design.
Update: I was standing in the garage with the helmet in my hand at about knee height and dropped it. It hit the floor and the chin guard completely busted. I found out the the only thing that holds the metal chin bracket is a very thin casing of plastic. Then the chin guard has nothing to attach to and just flops around. Thank god I didn't figure this out in a crash. This helmet seems good, but this is just a very poor design. I would stay away from this for sure and get a beefier model, or just a standard full face helmet. Hope this helps you out.....Earlier post: The helmet is awesome and I don't notice much weight difference compared a standard bike helmet when I'm riding. It straps easily to my pack for uphill riding, so I don't even take the face guard of. The guard is much easier to install than the older models that wraps around and clip in the back though. It just slides in and clips down. Really simple. I went with the chartreuse (which actually is like safety vest yellow). I feel the color stands out when I happen to be on the road and my friends love it because they can see me through the forest too. I did bust one of the visor detent clips the first day, but that's because it was on my pack and a low branch caught it. Totally my fault. It does come with an extra visor though that has a Go-Pto mount, so no problem. In all I'm super happy and feel mech safer on the trails. Regular helmets just don't cut it in the world of downhill.Sept 23 2020 update: after submitting for a refund, over 14 months ago, this seller finally issued me the $175 refund. That's is ridiculous!!! I would never buy this product, or anything else from this seller again. If you do, hope you don't have to submit for any type of timely return, or you'll be very sorry about your transaction....

This is a very well-designed and rendered helmet! Looks GREAT too!!!
This is the bazillionth helmet I've owned in my 56 years on earth. I've worn $1850 motorcycle helmets and I've worn at least 50 Bike helmets costing over $150 each and many in the $300 range. Some are truly excellent helmets but I am a believer in the right helmet for the right conditions and in that pursuit, I needed a proper mountain cycling and trails riding helmet. I ride an eBike and I really wanted too have a proper excellent helmet that I could wear comfortably for hours and hours of North Carolina Summers and a little bit chilly Winters. After trying many full face helmets of many different manufacturers, I tried the Giro Switchblade MIPS edition. This one is an exceptional rendering of a modular full face with detachable chin guard. I am very impressed with Giro products and I am pleased with them, especially after really putting them to the test.Clearly I do not want to crash in order to test the crash worthiness of this helmet. However; Giro publishes their crash testing findings and this helmet has been awarded all of the certs that matter to me.This helmet is super comfortable so I can stand to wear it in the heat and cold and rain and such, for the 99% of the time I am not having an epic eBike crash. I have to say, this is very comfortable. Not just on the first minute of the ride, but the 6th hour as well.I've read some reviews which speak to a concern that the detachable chin guard wouldn't withstand the potential impacts it is designed for. Honestly, I am not sure why this would be a concern because It is super super sturdy and yank as you might, it isn't coming off unless it wasn't latched properly, which is user error.I have lots of non full face helmets, so I don't need another one but the fact that this can be released to become a really excellent open face helmet. I feel like I got two for one here and the fact that it is so easy to custom fit the interior and the extra cheek pads are helpful. The fit and finish is really excellent as well. So why did I rate comfort at three stars when I am really happy with this helmet? Because it lacks the interior padding I think it warrants. It is a bit thin on the top due to pads that are a little bit too thin on the top and upper sides. The helmet isn't UNcomfortable, it just lacks the interior padding that would put it to five stars in my book.I believe the price to be very fair given what you get. This is an impressive helmet!!!

Pretty good helmet
This is a really nice helmet. Three things stand out:1 it's frickin huge. Got the right "interior" size, but it looks huge when it's on. obviously that means there's good protection if I crash, but it is so darn big, my initial thought was to return it. It is about 50% thicker than my traditional mtb helmet. looks pretty dorky with the chin guard off honestly2 the chin strap was kind of uncomfortable at first but i don't notice after a few rides. i have to run it a little loose so that it doesn't bother me... which kind of undermines the purpose - i hope it stays put in a crash. it should because the roc loc fits great.3 the lime green color is awesome!!!overall it is a very nice quality item. very sturdy, etc. don't love the chinstrap and puffy size but otherwise i dig it

Decent helmet
Having been involved in an accident and hitting my head on the road I needed to replace my GiroCypher because that is what you do when your helmet smacks into the road so...I chose this helmet because they are almost identical and i found somethings were noticably different. The Cypher had massive amounts of internal padding making my face squashed and that was on the largest helmet size they did. (So much so that I trained the cheek pads to fit better by wrapping elastic bands on them) and the helmet had a couple of vents but was otherwise solid. Also i never used the chinstrap because it made me feel nauseas. So, with that out of the way I went and bought this helmet at the same size as the Cypher expecting the same cheek squashing internal padding...and there was none. In fact the pads are so light I could probably have done with a size smaller but it was not that bad, just a lot more comfortable. Then I saw all the vents in the helmet, way more than the Cypher had and when riding now I can feel the air moving, I can feel rain drops getting through but most importantly, I used to sweat like crazy, even in winter, but now, barely anything at all and the internal pads are dry, that was an improvement. And then we come to the strap, still a D-Ring but the straps arebetter, they are fixed to the helmet in a better place so when under the chin they are not around my throat and making me feel like I want to throw up.Summary: Better vented, less sweat builds up, feels more comfortable with the chinstrap. Maybe could have gone with a smaller size as it feels like it has a little more room inside. The front face can detach but I do not want to do so, if i am going to hit the ground I would rather have a piece of armour there.Definately a decent helmet. Maybe not a full 5/5 but a very solid 4/5.

Fantastic helmet. Worth the extra price tag
Great helmet. After using the TLD A1 and A2 helmets for years, this was my first open/full face helmet. I've only used it as an open face so far but the fit and protection feels very comfortable and secure. The cheek pads press nicely without squashing, making you feel like you're way more protected than a standard trail helmet. In the TLD I wear a large but after reading a review recommending to size down with the Giro I went for the medium and it fits great. I'm a 59cm fit and M fits well.

Wrong size
Great helmet but the wrong size arrived. Easy to send back and get a refund but I really don't need the hassle.
