Reign of a King: Kingdom Duet, Book 1

Reign Of A King is the first book of the Kingdom Duet and can’t be read as a standalone but…ends on a cliffhanger! This is the first book that I’ve read by this author and I am hooked! I loved everything about it from the OTT possessive anti-hero, Jonathan, to the sassy and feisty Aurora that loves to push his buttons! This is taboo with Aurora being Jonathan’s dead wife’s younger sister. It is also enemies to lovers and the angst and banter with these two was delicious! I ate it up! And the spice…it was so hot I was afraid my kindle was going to catch on fire! Jonathan definitely has a mouth on him and he isn’t afraid to dish out some punishments! I can’t wait to jump into book two because I need answers and I need more of these characters!

There is nothing better than a fiery woman who cracks a man's armor. That is just what RK gives us in this book! Loved every second of it. Especially the mystery that is Alicia and her death, I'm on the edge of my seat with this!!

Hands down the best book, so far, of the series! Wow! I loved the angst, the emotion the games and the cliffhanger! Rina Kent is a queen!

This is such a good story.It’s fun to see Levi and Aiden from Jonathan’s perspective.Jonathan is a ZADDY. Oh. My. God. He really makes the characters in Royal Elite look like children.Absolutely adore Aurora. She is such a bada$$. She rocks and gives it as good as she gets it.Thank you Rina, this brought me lots of joy!!

The story is pretty good. Although there were bouts of up and downs for me during my read but it kept invested with the tension and “mystery” going on.Don’t mistake me, I loved the defiant personality of Aurora at the start but not even half way through the story and she bent for Jonathan and didn’t really put up much of a fight. Her “goal” and guilt about her sister felt pushed aside cause she started focusing on her relationship with Jonathan too much—like “bargaining” to sleep on his bed or getting him to kiss her. Yeah, she felt the occasional guilt and admitted at one point that what was happening was wrong but did she put up a fight against Jonathan? Not really—well, it didn’t felt like it to me.I’m all up for this kind of romance (the sister & ex-husband thing) but I’d like to see some fight and tension where it really feels like the MC is resisting and fighting the pull. This one just felt like it was some kind of foreplay between them 👁️👁️I don’t even understand Jonathan. Maybe I’m just slow but his obsession to have Aurora under his “protection” didn’t really make sense, other than Aurora being Alicia’s sister and that Alicia asked him to protect her. I don’t get where he’s coming from (maybe it’s cause I’m an idiot but oh well 🤷‍♀️😆) and that makes me even more curious cause I need something to make sense 😭The plot is looking good and the story pacing was okay, and I like the writing. I did get invested in the story—particularly about Aurora’s father and about the Alicia situation. I’m really interested in knowing what happened and that cliffhanger does not make sense considering all the info I have, so kind of looking forward to book 2 cause I need answers 👀

Rina Kent's writing is an obsession I will never tire of , and this family tree with all its innerconnected branches sucks you in from the first word.This is 4.5 amazing stars of dark suspense, my only wish is this was available in one omnibus or one book . I didnt want to put it down.Tropes :This book was so forbidden in all its delicious sinful parts. Aurora is the much younger sister of Johnathan 's deceased wife Alicia . The Age gap of 17 years was a huge red flag as Johnathan remembers her as the little sister hiding behind Alicia on their wedding day hidden behind white tulle as a "wild child"Johnathan is definitely a Pleasure Dom who is trying to break Aurora and get her to submit. Submit to him in everything, but Aurora is a surprising challenge to him offering contingencies to "punishment" quid pro quo that becomes her breaking him little by little .Aurora's father is up for parole ; he was a serial killer she turned in for murder, and somehow Alicia's death may not have been the suicide that was believed.Rina Kent needs to come with a warning label that you will need to cancel all plans because once you start one of her books , you won't want to stop till the whole series is complete.🌶🌶🌶 spicy scale

Jonathon wasn’t a main character in the other books but he might as well have been with how loud his presence is, so to read this book is a whole new level of intensity.Everything about him screams authority and demands respects with no tolerance for anything he deems foolish.He rules & controls with an iron fist, it’s his way or crush everything in his path so everyone falls at his feet, including Aurora, or so he thinks.Aurora, formally known as Clarissa is Alicia’s half sister.Tormented by her own past she ran and didn’t look back, for eleven years. Aurora herself is a fireball full of defiance & refuses to bow down to Jonathon’s demands, making her a worthy opponent in this twisted game he started with a very indecent proposal.The chemistry between these two is page burning; his intensity & her defiance makes for a sinfully delicious time❤️‍🔥The mystery surrounding Alicia is both so intriguing and suspicious & I can’t wait for the conclusion in Rise of a Queens🖤

ROAK is Rina's darkest book so far. Aurora's life has never been easy, but she is so strong and powerful, love her so much!Jonathan as always is an alpha, possessive and cold man, but he had his details with her which made me appreciate him more.I also adore we have Muslim representation in this one. Well done Rina 👏🏻Check this one out, it's definitely worth it!
