I have had a hobby of trying all kinds of different firestarters. I've been looking for the best options for backpacking, car camping, and an emergency fire kit for day hikes. I wasn't sure what to expect of these, but I mostly thought they looked cool. When I got a chance to try them, I was super impressed. I took one small section cut off and frayed apart, and I tried to light it with flint and steel: it started immediately and burned for minutes. It did not burn quite as long as some chemical options, but it started much more easily. It is also quite light and it smells natural!I made these part of a fire making kit I gave as gifts this Christmas to some of my family.

I’ve used few different fat ropes. They all work about the same. This product works as expected but so do all the rest.

Great starter.. Flint & Stricker, Ferro Rod & Stricker, or glowing ember from a Char-cloth method of lighting... oh yeah flame works well also. Great item !

I purchased these based on the recomendation of a social media influencer. I don’t understand why he recommended them so much, as they are practically impossible to light. I even pulled one apart so that I would have more surface area and air. It fizzled like a hair and certainly did not produce enough heat to help the tinder sticks catch fire.

Haven’t used yet, but I bought to put in my go bag and to use while backpacking. Seems like it’ll work fine. Will update if there any probs.
