Perfect for helping improve handwriting skills.
Fantastic book, my 5 year old loves to practice his handwriting and this little book is great for him, although it says you can’t photocopy, it’s says nothing about laminating, so in the interest of reducing waste, not having to buy my son multiple copies of the same book, I have cut the book along the spine and laminated each page, giving my son a wipe clean version that he can now reuse until he can do it perfectly and I’ve already bought the next book ready for when he has perfected this book.

A good attempt to make the dullest subject in Year 1 slightly interesting.
Its hard to fault a full-colour children's workbook that is so closely linked to the new primary curriculum that is so inexpensive. CGP does rather corner the market in this. The workbook goes through the basic letter formation, starting with patterns before leading onto capitals and lower case letters and finally (non-cursive) words. This is possibly one of the most boring areas of the early primary curriculum - endlessly writing the same letter time and again. "Up and down and round....", its also staggeringly dull to teach. CGP, in an attemp to make it interesting, do throw in pictures and colour and some explanatory text, probably as much for parents helping as the children.Really each page is a mere taster for each letter. However, each page has strictures against photocopying which is a shame as it would be helpful to be able to practice more. CGP link to online versions of some of their books for older children, and I wonder if it would really have been impossible to at least link to file for printing out the special four-line sheets that this age group uses, or give parents/tutors some way to repeat exercises?

Great homework companion!
I love this book. Quite easy for my daughter in this age group to manage on her own without much help from me! She loves it and has almost finished all the tasks.

Grear resource
I love the short lessons , this book is great for young children for pem control and learning to form neat letters.

Lines too close together.
I like the concept but the rows are too close together. For younger children (which is what this is aimed at) the tails of the y, q,p,g,f,j go down into the next row so you end up wasting a lot. Better if spaced further apart.
