Meopta Optics MEOSTAR 4-12x40 (#4) Riflescope

Meopta is a very long establoshed manufacturer and produces optical quality glass at or near world class level. This scope is a 30mm version of their tank like high quality craftsmanship. Please note however that it is a tad on the heavy side. The Meopta #4 has three very heavy bars , some would call it a 4c, meaning the opening where the bars meet is close, or narrow. The crosshairs inside the heavy bars are fairly fine. In my experience of well over 100 scopes, this is the best hunting reticle by a far shot. The meopta z-plex (not m-plex) is also good, better than the ridiculously thin leupold duplex (although the heavy duplex is useful). The biggest irritation with this scope, like all Meopta scopes, it comes with the massive fail Meopta lens covers. Two issues - very difficult to get the cover out of the way, particularly the ocular where it easily gets caught up in the action. And second, in many cases they won’t even stay on. This particular scope, push the cover on ocular, it pops off immediately. This is not unusual in my experience with Meopta scopes. An incredibly simple yet amazinhly stupid fail by Meopta. I think the owner’s nephew got put in charge of scope cover design. The best reticle I have experienced. And the worst scope covers made.

Excellent optic. Excellent construction. Exactly what you would expect for the price.
