Stable, sturdy, great price
I got this for traveling with an AT2005USB mic, which as some of you will know is a pretty average-sized dynamic mic with some weight to it, as an alternative to my bulkier home mic set-up. I was skeptical because of the plastic base and thin-looking post, which I thought might tip too easily but at this price I gave it a try. I am amazed at how stable it is, even with a shock-mount (replacing the included mic clip, which also works fine) that adds height and top-weight. It folds nice and flat, and seems sturdy enough. I also got a different model with folding metal legs that looks more like a small tripod or light-stand, thinking it would be stronger, but I plan to use this one because it's about an inch taller, bringing the mic up to where I want it.Small design points that might help someone since there are no directions: The top is actually a 3/8-to-5/8-inch thread adapter, which you can remove if you're using a mic with 3/8-inch hole. And please note that (as shown in the picture) instead of letting the center post rest on the tabletop, you can slide it up to the level of the joints where the legs meet, then tighten the knob, which adds about an inch to the height. Set this way, it's about 7 inches from the tabletop to the bottom of the threads (where your mic clip will screw on), and of course the mic clip itself will add more height. I am very pleased with this stand so far.

Microphone stand has not let me down yet.
This desk stand is small enough to easily fit inside my field bag, doesn't weigh much, and does its job effectively. Although it is small, it is still able to sturdily hold my RODE NTG2 microphone without danger of tipping over. Clipping the long microphone to the stand at the very end of the shotgun is a little precarious but I have made it work. It probably helps that the rode screw-on is very heavy, allowing the center of balance to be closer to the center of the stand.Anyway, I like that i can carry this around. It's very compact, light, and can still do its one job. For the price, an excellent buy.

Great for podcasts and video blogging.. maybe not for kick drums ;)
Makes a great podcast mic holder! Or you can you use it in studio for close-mic'ing amps or instruments (using a table or other means of elevating). It's not sturdy enough to hold larger Rode mics, however. Keep in mind your standard SM-58 or similar-sized mic. A workaround for heavier mics would be to tape down the legs. The mic clamp adapter is also plastic, much like cheaper Shure adapters.. so they won't take much abuse. But for keeping a stationary mic around, or for needing a quick setup to do podcasts or videos, this stand does the trick!

Mostly-metal construction seems sturdy. The pads on the tripod feet are more vibration dampers than anti-skid, if that matters to you.Glad it comes with the adapter for the mic holder. The holder it comes with might be considered size XL by modern standards. An SM58 would fall out. My circa 1970 Shure Unisphere B - a mic you could use as a weapon - fits very low in this holder.

Gets the job done.
It's not outrageously sturdy but will get the job done if you just want a desk top mic set up. It's quite heavy, which is a good thing. For some reason the review system puts "light weight" as grade so I put 5 stars only because it's heavy, which is the weight you should prefer for a product like this. Amazon clearly doesn't get it with this one's review process.

For what it is It's excellent.
It's very good for a mic holder, much better build quality than expected. I was expecting one of those things that can't support themselves with the spider legs on it but this is pretty damn good as long as you treat it with respect like anything else in your arsenal.

This thing is redicolously snug!
Comes a in a simple box. I used a power drill to just tighten the screws in place, set and that's it. For the money, it's a no brainer.

Lightweight for sure
Did not have the weight I needed for stage use. Return was efficient and refund was prompt

Does it's job, it's cheaply priced and it feels pretty cheap. Overall I'd prob give it a 3/5 but it's priced accordingly so I can't hold that against them. If you need this for serious work, or daily use, I'd go with something higher end, but just to have on your desk for every now and then, I think it's a good choice.

Good stand
Holds the mic pretty well as it should. The legs don't really work well when the height is adjusted to be low, basically you have to align them with the metal rod that sticks out the bottom for it to be stable
