Solgar Dry Beta Carotene, 10,000 IU, 250 Tabs (Pack of 1)

I've been using Solgar's Dry Beta Carotene 10,000 IU for a couple decades now. I chose it because I wanted a lower dose than the traditional 25,000 IU. This product is oil-free for those who have difficulty digesting fats, but the hard-to-find dose is useful for a much larger population. The tablets are round, orange, and 1 cm in diameter. They are relatively smooth on the outside and easy to swallow. In addition to beta-carotene, this supplement contains some other cartenoids in smaller doses: alpha-carotene, lutein, azeaxanthin, and cryptoxanthin. Alpha-carotene and cryptoxanthin are precursors of vitamin A, though they do not convert as efficiently as beta-carotene. Some studies have shown lutein and azeaxanthin to reduce risk or slow progression of age-related macular degeneration and cataracts.Per the FDA's request that vitamin A and provitamin A be expressed in metric units rather than IU, the Solgar Dry Beta Carotene is now labeled "3,000 mcg" rather than "10,000 IU". It's the same amount.Ingredients: Vitamin A as 100% natural beta-carotene 3000 mcg, carotenoid mix (alpha and beta-carotene, lutein, zeaxanthin, cryptoxanthin) 114 mcg, Microcrystalline Cellulose, Vegetable Cellulose, Vegetable Stearic Acid, Silica, Vegetable Magnesium Stearate, Vegetable Glycerin, Annatto (Color), Titanium Dioxide (Color), Caramel (Color). FREE OF: Gluten, Wheat, Dairy, Yeast, Sugar, Sodium, Artificial Flavor and Preservatives.

I took one dose of this and had really bad cotton mouth overnight. I will not take any more. I also see that it has a California Proposition 65 warning on the Amazon Description. It also contains caramel color and titanium dioxide. When are these companies going get this garbage out of our food and supplements!

I’m not sure if I should take it because my bottle is different form the one in the description/picture. I bought this because I’m allergic to soy & the I the picture it says free of soy, but it doesn’t say that anywhere on my bottle :(

I haven't had a new zit after taking one pill of this stuff per day for 2 weeks. It's probably not good to keep taking a pill a day for a long time, but it's such a relief to not have to deal with new zits after decades of trying everything under the sun. It seems to work for some people but not others. Glad it's working for me so far.

I started taking Beta-Carotene to boost my immune system. Was I surprised when my vision improved! I know it is beneficial for eye health, but I just wasn't thinking about it.
