Even though the public probably better remembers INSTANT REPLAY, or I CAN DREAM ABOUT YOU, this album contains what are probably Dan Hartman’s best songs in the feel-good HANDS DOWN and the glorious Disco medley of VERTIGO/RELIGHT MY FIRE that will make your head spin. The production on this is exquisite with great backing vocals by Loleatta Holloway. LOVE STRONG is a great fusion of Rock and Disco with strong guitar work and a gutsy vocal and there’s a Disco version of FREE RIDE (that Hartman recorded earlier in the ‘70s and had a hit with the Edgar Winter Group) that doesn’t really differ a lot from the original.Most of this album feels like a long, carefree Disco jam session and this CD from Universal Japan’s Disco Fever series contains an additional track that was not on the 2014 Cherry Red release: the shuffling BOOGIE ALL SUMMER (Single Version).

７６年の公式ファースト・ソロ「Images」、７８年作の「Instant Replay」に続く７９年作の傑作。彼のキャリアの上では、一昨年ＳＭＪから世界初ＣＤ化された前者よりも重要な位置を占める作品のはずだが、旧譜再発では世界に先んじてきたＳＭＪが、なぜか今回は海外レーベルに先を越された。まあ、次回のウィンター・ファミリーＣＤ化の際には登場するだろうとは思いつつ、ふと「次なんてあるのか？」と心配になって、買ってしまった。これでブルー・スカイ・レーベルからの作品で未ＣＤ化なのは、私の一番のフェイバリットである８１年作「It Hurts To Be In Love」だけか。「次」があることを祈りつつ待ちたい。その時、本作の紙ジャケも出たら？　もちろん、買います。

当時、「衝撃のイメージ」のアルバムは買ったけど、その後「あなたを夢みて」までアルバムが発表されてるのさえ知らなくて、永久に手に入らないと思ってたが、ここにきて「インスタントリプレイ」に続いて手にいれることができました。観劇してます。のこるは「イッツ、ハート、トゥ、ビー、イン、ラブ」だけなんだけど・・・いつ出してくれるのかな？。
