Good for it's intended purpose, not for doggy post-op care...
So, I bought this pillow for a rather unique reason, and it didn't work for me. However, this pillow was super soft and plushy and would have been excellent for what it was intended for. It molds to your neck in a sense and works wonderful. Since it does what it intended to do, I gave it a full 5 stars. Now, let me warn you not to do what I did with this pillow. My dog got "fixed", and she looked pitiful with that cone around her neck. Plus, she would scratch at it all night and I had a hard time getting any sleep. So, I tried to find a different solution that wouldn't cost me a small fortune, like some of those other cone alternatives do, since she'd only be using it for 2 weeks. So, we thought this might work.As you can probably expect, and as any sane person probably would have suspected, it didn't work. It might have worked if she was a little less long and her neck was a bit bigger, but she's a 40lbs black lab/keeshond mix, and she has a really long body and could easily get around this. Plus, since the side intended to be behind your neck is thicker and bulkier, it would end up under my head (because gravity), and since she's got a long body with short legs, she'd trip over it and would get mad and was about two seconds away from tearing it up when I took it off of her.Thankfully, she was good about minding her stitches are we were able to leave her coneless for most of the healing time with no problems. But yeah. It's a good neck pillow and it'd be great if my dog hadn't covered it in gross dog-ness. :)

Perfect pillow but strong smell
So the pillow is really soft and a perfect size for a range of people (I'm small and my tall boyfriend loves it the same). It has little beads in it (think beanie baby) that helps it conform to your neck when you use it. The top half that would touch your face is a soft and fuzzy material while the bottom is just a stretchy spandex/nylon material. The snap closure works great for securing it to your neck and isn't difficult to snap or unsnap at all. All in all my boyfriend and I love using it for movies in bed actually. It provides just the perfect amount of support on top of a pillow to totally lay down down and watch a movie in bed. No more stacking pillows for movies all the time! It also works great the same way for playing on my ipad in bed while laying down in the blankets. I have no doubt this will function just as perfectly in long car rides or flights so I look forward to using it everywhere. Now for cons. First one is the smell. When it came out of the package it had a VERY strong new car smell that I absolutely hate. I'm sensitive to smells so it actually made me nauseous whenever I smelled it. I had actually bought two sets. A pair of the black ones for my boyfriend and I and another of the grayish pair for Christmas for my grandparents who have to drive 500 miles whenever they want to visit. I had tried to air the gray ones out in my room for two days before putting them in a big open cardboard box and lighting a scented candle next to them whenever I got the chance because the smell was so strong. Honestly after a week it was only a tiny bit better. The black pair I had left at my boyfriend's house for him to use since the smell was unbearable to me. The smell was still pretty bad for a good two weeks but a month and a half later it's a million times better. I could still smell it faintly but as long as I don't stick my nose in it I don't notice it anymore (and it's not because I got used to the smell). It helped that my boyfriend was actively using them during this time and thereby airing it out a lot better than just letting it sit there. The only other downside to this neck pillow is that it doesn't have a removable cover and really isn't washable. Care instructions are just to spot clean, so if you're taking this to dirty places that's something to consider. I really would give it 5/5 stars if it weren't for the strong smell that is still lingering even after a month and a half. It really is just a new car smell so it might not bother some people but to me even thinking about it is kind of making me gag. Hence the 4 stars. I hope with more use the smell will finally just totally dissipate. Hope this was helpful (albeit long).

comfortable around the neck but hot and take up lots of room
i got two of these for some super long flights for my husband and i. i found the pillow comfortable, although it doesn't breathe well if the plane is at all stuffy. plus it takes up quite a bit of room in my small carry-on bag. it was okay. i'd probably take it with me again on another long flight but it's not a must-have IMO.

No more accidental sleep-cuddling of airline strangers....
Any of us who fly long distances have been there.... You fall a sleep only to awaken with your head on the shoulder of the passenger next to you. Thankfully, this neck pillow solves that issue along with stiff necks, and absorbing any drool. It's extremely light, very compressible(can compress very easily down to the size of a softball-I squeeze mine into a quart size ziplock bag for transport), and gentle on even the most sensitive of skin. No need to worry about sweating that comes with a lot of other neck pillows as it stays cool to the touch. Also, I love the fact it has a very secure snap closure opposed to Velcro or button found on others as can I attach it to my laptop bag or backpack without worry of it falling off while roaming the airport or squeezing down the aisle of the plane. On top of all of that you've got a well made product at a great price.

Not for long term use.
When I first received this pillow, it had a bad chemical smell. I was going to return it but I noticed that it dissipated a bit after a few days so I sprayed it with Fabreeze every day for a week. The smell is gone. I use these types of pillows every night and this one was good for a while, but no longer supports my head well. I suppose the micro beads have compacted or the fabric has stretched a bit. Either way, if this were a cotton pillow, I would add more stuffing. This pillow has no zipper to allow for that (which is probably a good thing because those beads get into everything!). I think I will just continue to replace the stuffing in my cotton filled pillow for now...
