It absolutely is sulfate free. I have no idea why that seller would say no.

How long does this last with daily use?

I buy about one per month - but my hair is only chin length. Buy it, you won't be sorry!!!

I would not say so no. This formulation is so oily and hydrating it would make your hair just look extremely greasy. It is meant as a scalp treatment and regular conditioner.
