I've slid pieces of bait into sterl wool and pushed it into holes. The pieces I've put in the trap don't get much attention.

Very Effective
How the mice got in is still a mystery. After putting these about the areas where there was "activity" (read: droppings), within a couple of days I was disposing of dead mice on a daily basis - if you are squeamish, be warned that the mice are not fussy about where they die. Within a couple of weeks, there was no more activity by these pests.
