Michelin Portugal Map 733 (Maps/Country (Michelin)) Review: Reliable and Detailed Map – A Must-Have for Traveling in Areas with Poor GPS Service! - The Michelin Portugal Map has been an invaluable tool during our trip to Portugal this summer. In areas we traveled with poor GPS service, having a reliable and detailed physical map like this one was a real lifesaver. It’s well-organized, easy to read, and covers all the major routes and smaller roads we needed. There’s something reassuring about having a map in hand when technology isn’t cooperating. If you’re planning a trip to Portugal, especially in more remote areas, I highly recommend having this map as a backup. It’s a great complement to GPS and adds peace of mind to any journey! Review: Great for trip overview - This is a detailed map. While electronic mapping such as google earth is great for many things, I found this map to be unbeatable in terms of helping provide an overview of my trip and routing.

Great for trip overview
This is a detailed map. While electronic mapping such as google earth is great for many things, I found this map to be unbeatable in terms of helping provide an overview of my trip and routing.

Pros: very detailed map, easy to read, good details added. Cons: it is really big
Pro: Good detailed road map; great overview of the whole country, does not include Spain so it's all focused on Portugal. Even very small towns are listed, and there is a good location key. Helpful time/distance map for key destinations Con: It is very large when folded out, making it almost impossible to use easily in any somewhat confined space, and it is not tear-resistant, so I think it's going to be a fold-able map mess very quickly.

Great as a backup to WiFi maps
Purchased as a backup to Google Maps during vacation, thankfully did not have to use!

This map was a huge help.
I just got back from a trip all over Portugal using this map. Great details and very accurate. I read some reviews about the map being too big to use in the car. It is very easy to fold it over to just the area you are using at the moment. I saw this same map for sale in one of the rest stops in Portugal, but I got mine on Amazon! I highly recommend this map. Friend's had a similar Michelin map of just the south. That would be great too if you are just going to be in the Algarve as it showed even more detail in that area.

Way to big a map
This was not useful to me, I was looking for a general map of the different Portugal areas in relation to each other etc., this map is so gigantic it would not be useful for most people, would in fact be quite dangerous to try to use in a car, not manageable at all. Don't know what map would be best for me but I'm still looking. Just beware.

Best $6 we've ever spent
We used it during our Portugal road trip Sept 2018. Didn't think we need it as our rental car has a GPS, plus we have one on our phone. It was supposed to be extra insurance- a backup. But boy, we were lucky that we had it. It showed us the scenic side roads and prevented us from getting hopelessly lost. We were surprised at the abundance number of small towns in Portugal, many of which shared identical names! If you type one such name into the GPS, you will get a list of similarly named towns in different regions. You won't be able tell which is the one you want because chances are, you will not recognize the district/region name ( there are too many). When this happened to us, we were able to refer to the Michelin map to find another town along the route and use that to navigate to. The map was also helpful when the GPS gave convoluted routes, confusing/conflicting instructions (e.g, take the roundabout when there was none). Thankfully, the roads on the map are labeled with the route numbers. Regarding the size of the map, yes, it is huge, we did struggle with it a bit. Anything smaller would lose important details or one would not be able to make out the writing. A map in a book format has significant downside too. My suggestion is to fold it into a larger but still manageable size showing the part of the country you want BEFORE getting into the car. I remember being inside a gas station in the middle of nowhere in Portugal (had to use the washroom), a French couple was talking to the attendant. I saw the attendant spread out a bunch of orange colored Michelin maps on the counter in front of them. They looked unsure. I felt like talking to them...

I am so happy to get this old road map of Portugal, not easy to find. One more time i can said that the classic and old maps like many other items in the life are 100% the best to have saved in your library of wherever. Roads printed, you never lost, forget about gps and new technologies. This remind the times when we don't have all this kind of modernity and we always arrive to the places: Asking to the people!. "Hello, excuse me, I am going well to...". Made the day this map.

Zum Planen des nächsten Reisetages, für die Übersicht oder als Backup ist diese Karte einfach perfekt. Sie ist beim Motorradurlaub in dieser Region immer dabei.
