Kenwood Excelon X801-5 5-Channel Car Amplifier

I have upgraded the stereo system twice in the last 5 years (same car) and I would like to share what I have learned.First, if you have a OEM factory audio (almost all cars do), installing an aftermarket system would typically mean you are switching to 4 speak + 1 subwoofer format. So if you have a 10 speaker system plus a subwoofer, then you would be losing the ability to send audio to 6 speakers. Also, you would often lose the ability to control the car audio through the steering wheel.So what are the things one need to upgrade the OEM car audio?1)Stereo head unit.2)Amps such as this.3)4 replacement speakers + replacement subwoofer (optional).In my opinion, the most expensive and important components are the amp and the 4 speakers.This amp is not only powerful, but it is also exceptionally clean sounding. There is no to little distortion that may cause a hiss sound.It also fits underneath the passenger footing in my Mercedes.When paired with the latest stereo head unit and my Alpine speakers, this amp can really sing.In my opinion, unless you want to blast the stereo until you become deaf (and annoy your neighbors), the power coming from this amp will be more than enough for any person.

This amp is amazing. I had an MB Quart amp twice the size of this amp that kept going into thermal shutdown after 15-20 minutes of use. A little less than a year and it just quit working all together. I bought this Kenwood to replace it and I'm so glad I did. The sound quality is first rate and although not specifically listed on the manual, it has handled a 1 ohm load on the subwoofer output without an issue. Don't waste your time with cheap amps. Get a quality amp such as this one, your ears and your passengers will thank you.

Installed a week or so ago and so far I am very happy with it. Love the small size, fit perfectly in the utility well of my Jeep.

I have this amp in a silverado extended cab. It fit perfectly under the back seat. I have a kenwood head unit, kenwood 6 1/2 inch front speakers, kenwood 4x6 rear speakers and a 10 inch kenwood sub hooked to this thing. Everything sounds amazing. Everything is clear with no distortion what so ever. The bass hits hard with the set up. I had a different 4 channel amp by a different manufacturer at first hooked to the same speakers and the quality of sound was no where near what it is with this kenwood. Definitely worth the money.

I bought this to replace a factory installed amplifier in my 2011 lancer and let me tell you this made my stock speakers sound audiophile grade. This is a super compact amp that will fit just about anywhere and being a class d it doesn't give off heat so that's a plus. I would definitely recommend this product and it comes with kenwood excelons standard 2 year warranty.

I got this amp hooked to a kenwood excelon ddx 793 and kenwood excelon xr 1800p component speakers and excelon 4x6 and 1 jl audio 10 in my 05 silverado ex cab and took the time to dynamat all 4 doors and wave breaker foam behind each speaker and this is by far the cleanest sounding system i have ever had. Like other peoples comments ive read i have to agree i totally underestimated this little amp. Now hopefully it lasts for quite a while.

Excellent quality and small size. Installed in my 2016 Ram with Focal 6x9s, infinity Kappa 10” Sub and kicker tweets. It rocks the house.

This is the third amp I bought for my 13 Honda Civic. The first two went into thermal protection on hot summer days. This one, being a full-class-D amp was able to handle the 110F+ days in the trunk and still sound great on the freeway!
