A Life Changing Book
This wonderful book by Dr. Pankaj Vij is a true gift to society. The author has presented a broad overview of the problem of obesity and the resultant epidemic of related illnesses, such as diabetes, heart disease and the deadly metabolic syndrome. Untreated, the metabolic syndrome can result in heart attacks, strokes, dementia, anccelerated aging, and early death. Dr Vij presents many wonderful insights and illustrates these in easy to understand tables and diagrams. His recommendations are common sense and grounded in real science. The scope of interventions discussed are broad and include recommendations for meditation, stress management and figuring out one,s life goals. His recommendations are also easy to adopt. These include the following:1. Stopping use of natural and artificial sugars2. Stopping the use refined flour3. Stopping the use of sugary drinks4. Doing regular physical activity that the one enjoys.5. Strong recommendation is made for making one’s diet predominantly plant-based.6. Meditation , adequate stress management and obtaining adequate duration of sleep is emphasized. He leaves us with a hopeful message that we CAN create the kind of life that we want by taking control of the factors that are under our control. We can have a healthy metabolism, a Turbo metabolism that is , to ensure a long and healthy life for ourselves. This is a great book that should benefit many people. It is easy to read. I highly recommend it.Tirath Gill MD

A Treasure for Good Health Seekers
Turbo Metabolism is a viable plan for a healthy lifestyle. Dr. Vij makes perfect sense; "Good gas, good gas mileage." It is well thought out and researched. How refreshing to know a medical doctor that foremost trusts the body first to heal and maintain health. It covers many topics: testing, proper foods, contaminants (frightening!), shopping, recipes, plus interesting facts and fallacies. I highly recommend it. Sincerely, Anne R

Having the best possible health.
Dr Vij has been my primary care physician for several years. When I bought his book a year ago, I learned alot of new information and felt supported to continue my newly started plant food diet. I lost 10 pounds and I feel great especially since I have been able to keep it off easily. Then I passed on the book to a friend of mine who also started a plant food diet and is feeling much better after making diet changes (history of painful bouts of diverticulitis) I appreciate that Dr Vij's approach is more holistic than most doctors and the book has many practical tips, including recipes. Dr Vij presents a range of aspects of body, mind and spirit, all of which I want to hold in balance so I can have my best possible health.

This book is just 'so-so. I wouldn't recommend it.
I read a good bit of the book and yes, there are some nuggets of knowledge I didn't know. What turned me off was the Dr's stance on his religious beliefs. Most people who would read this book are not Hindu. His take on the center of energy and 'Chakra' etc. etc. is not something of interest to me and the way he makes it sound as if you don't subscribe to eastern religion, well, you're missing out on a key ingredient to being successful following his method. He's a doctor and I was expecting him to approach this from a medical position. He also brings in the whole evolution stance...and how over billions and billions of years the body has magically arrived at all these complex systems that are more in line with design than the proven to be rediculous-theory of evolution.I did learn one thing. The next time I read a headline that promises, '8 Weeks to a New (Anything), I'll just keep on walking.
