My application for this was for use with a poorly designed Northstar Trailer Sprayer. I don't know why, but the original design had the filter INSIDE the tank. So if it clogged you would have to find somewhere to put 25 gallons of lawn chemicals or pesticides or be brave enough to submerge half of your arm in the tank full of chemicals in order to clean the filter.This was the PERFECT fix! I just cut the line between the suction tube before it went into the pump and installed this in between. This filter should be standard on all trailer sprayers. What a GREAT product!

The write-up said it had a diameter of 3.85 square inches. How does a circle have square inches? I'm guessing that is the total capacity. The outside diameter of the strainer is 1 3/8". Smaller than a silver dollar.I will go ahead and try using it for a raw-water foot pump on my boat. Seems like a high quality item. Wish the barbs were a little longer so I could double clamp them, but that's fine. The barbs have some bite, so I think I will be Ok. The bowl is especially clear, so it should be easy to see when it gets clogged. They make a little longer strainer as well. Next time around, I will probably go with that size.

Fits 1/2 inch silcon tube perfectly. The filter and casing are a lot shorter than the 3/8 inch version. Not sure why that is but requires emptying more often. With that said it still filters just as good, and the screw theads are the same on the 3/8 and 1/2 inch so you can just switch the filter and casing for a bigger 1/2 inch filter. I use these on my beer syphon and as a mash tun pre filter before the wort enters my chugger pump.

Fit my 1/2" marine water hose perfectly. Seems to work just like it should.

I used this to filter my patio misting system. It does a much better job than the screen insert that is located in the hose fitting. Of course you need to buy a male and female hose fitting and 2 short pieces of hose, and 2 clamps to attach the hose to the fittings. (you could just cut the line that comes with your misting system but I wanted to be able to just unscrew the filter when I wasn't using the mister...and possibly use the filter somewhere else).

I tried to attach 1/2" tubing, and it split I had to force it so hard. It's possible the diameter was measured to the end, and it wasn't taken into account for the internal ring of tubing to fit over the male ends. Even still, good product, nice filter.
