Best choice and no click sound

well it did take some time for it to arrive, but everything is good, packaging was great and product was great also

No error no issue but one of the drive gives a clicking sound randomly.

I recently upgraded my computer's storage capacity with the Seagate Barracuda 8 TB internal hard drive, and I must say, it has been a worthwhile investment. This HDD offers a balance of performance and storage capacity that caters well to my needs. Although the Barracuda operates at a speed of 5400 RPM (rotations per minute), which might not be the fastest on the market, I found it to be quite adequate for everyday tasks. While it may not match the speed of SSDs, the Barracuda still offers reasonably quick access times and transfer rates for its class. It's important to note that this drive strikes a balance between performance and affordability, making it suitable for those who need a large storage solution without breaking the bank. In terms of reliability, Seagate's reputation shines through. The Barracuda series is known for its durability and longevity, and this 8 TB variant is no exception. I have been using it for several months without encountering any significant issues, and its consistent performance has been reassuring. There are no included instructions for installations but you can find DIY videos online for setting it up within the system.

never used, it did not sync to my pc

Installed both disks in my PC. Started installing the OS and during the installation process the disk started making strange noises. After restarting the PC, the bios does not detect the hard disk.

As for mechanical hard disk, storage oriented, it's great. 150-160MB/S transfer rate with just 5400 rpm is a very good deal.

Excellent drive. Purchased for 140 SGD and arrived in perfect condition. However, this is not for you if you’re looking to use it in a NAS. Works great for low write/high read use cases. If you’re looking for a primary drive, please get an SSD, but this is an excellent drive for backups and large media storage.

EDIT (27th April 2026): Hol-lee-fook, these prices, insane. $419 AUD now. Double when I bought the first two at $200 and $230. Not worth it at all IMO, unless other similar capacity HDD's are more expensive than this. As for the drives, they're both running great still. Older one is at 5391 Hours (since May 2025), and second newer one is at 3203 Hours (Since December 2025). They run whenever my PC is on, which, is quite a lot lol. EDIT (19TH February 2026): Price has gone up to $265. These were around $200 when I first purchased the first one, and $230 when I purchased the second one. Def grab these sooner than later. I reckon these will soar past $300. And yes, both are still going great. I will come here and continue to update this review, especially if anything bad happens. EDIT (4th December 2025): Just bought a second one a week ago Both are running great. They are not on 24/7 but pretty darn close to it and running fine so far. Using them in external 3.5" SATA to USB Enclosure. Packaging is literally the segate branded cardboard box it ships in, which is quite sturdy and complex, and then a paper amazon bag on the outside, and that's literally it. No Bubble wrap. But! Both times they've arrived unharmed and work fine. Takes about 5-7 days free delivery from the US to Sydney. Will be buying more if the price stays the same. ORIGINAL REVIEW (May 2025): Great value for money. Packaging could have been a bit more thorough but it arrived unharmed and crystal disk info showed no errors, and with no hours used. Please note when you do look into crystal disk info you’ll need to translate the numbers into raw data, so if it says “write errors: 9172672” (example), it’ll come out as “0” on. Just google “segate smart error calculator and should be the first result that comes up. Now I will note: I’ve had it for two months now, and it reeealllly slowed down to a crawl past week or two, doing 10-15 MB/S read / write - and sometimes 100% activity but no read or write. I went into “Defrag and optimise drives” in windows and it was at 76%., which is very high. I ran it for a day and a bit and it got down to 6%, and it runs MUCH smoother at 140/150 MB/S read/write like it was at original date of purchase. So a lot of these other reviewers (apart from physical damage by shipping) are probably not defragmenting their hdd’s properly Also please keep in mind this is a SMR drive not a CMR drive - can’t be bothered explaining here but just google it and you’ll see what I mean. TL;DR - you should treat this drive as a write once read many times which is what i’m treating this drive as.

Funcionó sin ningún problema, sin ruidos raros, la PC lo detecto de inmediato.

Comprei ele para espelhar meu HD de 4TB nesse de 8TB, sem defeito, já fiz os testes e ele se saiu super bem. Nota pro vendedor: Só uma coisa que pode melhorar é a embalagem, colocar um isopor ao redor dele garante maior segurança pro hd, e evita inconveniente pro vendedor e consumidor, de resto, tudo ok!
