The Invention of Yesterday: A 50,000-Year History of Human Culture, Conflict,

A book that should be read by all
This is a great book. It describes the most important events in the history of the world in an interconnected and meaningful way, making evident how isolated events in different parts of the world had ripple effects on events that followed. Very interesting and easy read. If only it could be the introductory history text book for at schools. I thoroughly enjoyed it and learned a lot.

Multi-disciplinary look at early man shows ancient cultures more connected than we once believed.
I just finished reading “The Invention of Yesterday,” by Tamim Ansary. I don’t think I have ever before described a history book with the phase, “I could not put it down,” but this one merits that compliment. It is a multi-disciplinary work that takes you way back to man’s earliest history with underlying premise that, the world’s centers of human culture are now, and always have been, more interconnected that we probably ever imagined. He supports his theory with threads of history, religion, politics, economics, social & political culture, geography and a mix of the sciences. If history is your thing, this will be a great refresher with a new twist here and there. If history is not your thing, it is still a good read that will help you understand how we humans got to where we are today and where we may be headed. A great read!
