HAVAHART1020 Two Door Mouse & Rat Trap Cage

I bought this thinking that I could catch a small opossum that had taken refuge in my firewood. I didn’t look at the dimensions of the unit so that was my mistake. The construction was very solid and could easily catch a smaller animal without harming it. I personally needed a bigger one to handle my visitor. Good product, definitely read the details before you purchase. Had to issue a return/refund.

It is much too small for rats. It is a mouse, shrew, and vole trap. Beware of this seller.

I have used this trap twice already and have successfully caught 2 mice. I only open one door and leave the other one closed. I put a little peanut butter on a cracker and place it all the way in right behind the closed door to make sure the mouse walks all the in and steps on the trigger plate. This trap is well built and completely humane. I’ve successfully re-homed 2 nice completely unharmed. If you’re looking for a humane mouse trap to catch and release, look no further. Be sure to release the mouse 5 or more miles from your home into a big wooded or land area to make sure it can’t find its way back to you. I prefer releasing it in a wooded area so it at least can find refuge in nature and food.

No rat could fit or be trapped by this trap. Way to small. Advertising is misleading
