good introduction to Raphael
If you want to know about Raphael, this is the book! Not just only the paintings, but a thorough overview of all his work, placed in the context of his time. Well written and well portioned, it gives you a good insight of Raphael and Renaissance art, without dwelling to long on a subject. Just perfect for beginners, but also a must for every art-historian.

Beautiful
Bought this book purely for its gorgeous cover and I adore it just for that. No, I've never read it -- but I don't need to to give it 5 stars. Awesome, high quality design and exactly as I imagined.

Leave this one out!
Beautifully made, instructive, yet the quality of the prints is horrid: low resolution for the most part, small, full of artefacts, overly sharpened; color management is totally off too, overly saturated or bleached look, color temperature miserably inadequate. This is properly scandalous as this is Phaidon doing a Raphael Monograph in 2007 not less. Do yourself a favor, don't buy this book. The Titian and the Fra Angelico in the same series are fine though.
