Au flair de la Luna
I have the original Luna Lapin book. It’s given me many hours of peace to sew Luna and her outfits and given many more hours of delight to my great-niece who treasures the end results. These are real heirloom pieces if made with quality materials and, while you don’t need to, you can go as far as employing couture techniques and finishes if you so desire. I was really pleased to be able to pre-order the second book, but slightly wary as I thought there might be a lot of repetition and that the quality may not be as good. This couldn’t have been further from the reality. This is another -if not even more- lovely book with lots of intricate and beautiful designs. The clothes are mini masterpieces and the variety of new animals inspirational. Having said that, this book would stand alone if you haven’t bought the first. It’s gorgeously illustrated, with plenty of guidance, instructions and helpful diagrams if you need them. I can’t complement enough the tasteful design and photos that have gone into making this book a pleasure to own and work from. You can really tell that hearts and souls have been poured into its production.

I love Luna and her friends, lovely to make and enjoy!
This is a fantastic book, it not only tells a story about the characters , it provides patterns and instructions for making them and the clothes. I bought this having already purchased the first book ( Luna Lapin) which I loved. You can hand or machine sew them . I hand sew characters as it’s so relaxing and make the outfits using my machine.

A captivating group of creatures to make
Following on from the first Luna Lapin book, this is another book to cherish. The characters become abit addictive mind you, so your rabbity-hares may reproduce all too easily, as they do in real life! Then the badger, fox and mouse soon become firm favourites as well, be warned you will need to make many more of them! They each have their own story too so they come with characteristics which is a delightful addiction.Great illustrations and instructions, then theres the Facebook group where you can get advice and even more inspiration! : )

Wasn’t as hard as I thought, but you’ll need some sewing experience
I really enjoyed making Luna and some outfits for her. I had looked at this for a while, but decided I’d find it too hard. As we entered a new lockdown, I decided I’d give it a go as I wanted to make one for my friend’s daughter. A few things to bear in mind, they are designed to be decorative and not toys and they’re mostly designed to be hand sewn (my worst nightmare) However, I adapted it by using micro fleece rather than felt so she’s a bit more robust and much more huggable. And it was easy enough to work out how to machine sew her. I had to attach the arms and head by hand, but everything else was done by machine. There’s a great website that sells everything you need or you can easily use your own stash. I bought an extra kit online to make the red gingham dress. I think the book is easier to follow than the instructions that can be bought online. She was well received into her new home and though my attempt wasn’t perfect, I think she’s well loved. It took about 1/2 day to make Luna at my pace (I’d already cut her out) and I only used the quick unpick twice (actual miracle!) The red dress took me HOURS, but I’d never sewn any clothes before so I was a complete novice. Let’s hope it’s a few decades before she’s on the repair shop being put back together! I’m definitely going to have a bash at some others, I warn you, it’s quite addictive!
