I live in the northern midwest and have been using these cartridges for nearly 10 years now, with multiple BK-80D large size Flowtrons. That size of Flowtron takes 2 of these cartridges on the bottom. The cartridges work very well and seem to last very long, definitely longer than 1 month I would say. However, 2 major things. One is, the cartridges have gotten so much more expensive over the years, I can hardly believe it! From a couple dollars each to about $10-12 each. I know inflation is bad these days, but that bad? To the point where I now try to make one set of cartridges last the whole mosquito season, which is probably stretching it. Two is, you need to stick these cartridges to the bottom of the Flowtron a very specific way, otherwise they will fall off too soon. If you look at the bottom of the Flowtron where these go, the flaps of the slot don't make a flat surface because the light bulb pushes against the two flaps from the other side and causes the flaps to bulge out a bit. Thus, if you try to stick the cartridge centered on this convex section, it'll never stick for long. Instead, I cut the adhesive strip in half, stick both on 1 side of the cartridge, and then press that side of the cartridge very well to just 1 flap of the slot. So basically only half of the cartridge is stuck very well to 1 flap on the bottom of the Flowtron, while the other half of the cartridge is just hanging there not touching the other flap at all. But it is better to have half the cartridge stuck well, than all of the cartridge stuck poorly. Since I started doing this, I have not had any cartridges falling off before it was time to change them out.

We have had our Flowtron bug zapper since Aug. of '23 and have been very pleased with it so far. I knew it was time for a refill. I purchased these and they seem to be very good quality. I have to chuckle to myself with all of these reviews regarding the smell. You guys do understand that this is an attractant for your bug zapper. Flies and other winged pests are attracted to things that may not necessarily be that attractive smelling to us, don't you think? I also see some people saying that these didn't work when they sat them around their home. That is not what these REFILLS are for. These are to go in your electric Flowtron bug zapper. Anyways, just like we all have to do on Amazon reviews nowadays - Just weed through the completely unhelpful reviews. If you have any of the bug zappers listed with one of the model numbers in the title then you are in the right place and these will work for you! Happy zapping friends!

There is a nice little spot on the bottom of the Flowtron zapper for this cartridge. So I followed in the instructions and put it where it belongs and put the zapper on the pole. A few minutes later I noticed the cartridge laying on the ground. So I had to try and re-stick it, but when you do this, the wrapper is already off so you make your hands smell like mosquito attractant, which isn't a good thing. If your zapper is high in the sky like mine, it's a pain to get the zapper down and re-stick the cartridge only for it to fall off again a bit later. For some reason after about the 3rd re-stick it held. 3rd time is a charm I guess. I think the next time I put one in I might improvise something with zip tie, or some tape to keep it in there. Did it work? Well I suppose. I like to have people over on Friday evenings for some grilled food and fire pits. So I spray the Cutter Back Yard spray a few times during the summer season, use Citronella Tiki candles, and some people use personal spray just for an extra level of protection. The Zapper is just another level of defense. So I have no idea if this was working or not, because of my other extensive counter measures. I will say that there were several mosquito kills and I personally without using personal spray took only 2 or 3 bites, but after an entire evening outside, that's not bad. One day I didn't bother to replace the cartridge and it seemed like the number of mosquito kills went down. That could be that there were just fewer mosquitoes because of my spraying the yard for bugs, or it could be the cartridge really works. I guess, I'd say try it both ways. See what works best for you. My Flowtron zapper came with one to try out, but it would be worth the few bucks to pick one up and try it just to see if you get more kills.

When I recently ordered my Flowtron BK-80D bug zapper, I saw that some felt that since mosquitoes are not especially attracted to light, that adding an attractant would be a good option. I can't speak for the use of a zapper without it, since I got them together, but I can say the lack of mosquitoes that were around with this combo was amazing. I have a cabin in the woods and it has been near impossible to spend much time on the deck in the evening, starting as soon as the sun goes down (in PA) -- but such was not the case with this combo (first used in August). I did put the combo out for a full night before I spent time on the deck, so that probably helped kill many of the mosquitoes in the area first. And since I hung the unit about 25 feet away from my table, as recommended, I did put a citronella candle on the table as well - which never seemed to make much difference in the past, but always put it there for my own thinking that it was better than nothing. :-) Also note that I bought two of these cartridges and put them both in the 'trays' at the same time, in the base of the Flowtron. Cons: after spending about 4 days at the cabin, I saw that one of the cartridges had fallen out of the tray. At this price -- for just one cartridge - this can get very costly and I will need to come up with a way to better secure the cartridges in the trays if they are to do any good.
