UPDATE: so after 2 uses it started to give the steaks a metallic taste. It is totally rusting and I come to find out that the Stainless Steele grade 201 it is made of us “cheep” low quality stainless Steele. Look for 18/10 or 304 grade stainless it is much better quality. Also the wire thickness it is made out of is very thin. A good idea but a very cheaply made poor quality and ultimately rusty product. We Returned it.I am using this to finish off/sear my Sous-vide steaks. The only negative is it is small so just one steak at a time but I am able to get this grill grate wicked hot so only 15sec per grill mark. So that is 30 seconds per side and 1 min total per steak so the small size is not a limiting factor. I am curious how well it will hold up so I will post a follow up review eventually.

To be completely honest, I purchased this so that I could flip a chimney starter over and finish my food off with a quick sear when I sous vide with out using a ton of charcoal. I was surprised at how THICC this boi was. For only $12, I was expecting something super thin like wire coat hanger thickness but this thing had other plans, it’s about 3 times thicker than a wire clothes hanger. This thing landed on my front door with a CLUNK as if to say “DADDYS HOME” and speaking of dads, this thing will up your dad game. Not as much as a pair of Nike Monarchs would, but it definitely elevated my dad game. All in all I’m super surprised at how good quality it is, I had doubts it would fit over my chimney starter but it fit like a glove and it definitely won’t fall off as long as your chimney starter is 7.5” in diameter. You won’t regret this purchase.

My charcoal starter is slightly smaller than 7.5 inches but this grate works ok anyway. I use it when I don’t want to cook a lot of meat, just a burger or two. Saved on charcoal and clean up. Also works to support a coffee pot or pot of stew.

I just wanted a round platform to have inside of my chiminea. Choose this one because I could see that it had legs in the photo and it looked sturdier than others. Was impressed that it was delivered in less than a day.
