Less Static, but ...
I've had this mat for about a week now. I do think it's an improvement over the felt mat that came with a Pro-Ject Debut Carbon Evo turntable, but it's not a drastic change. I got this because static was causing the felt mat to cling to the records, and I was tired of peeling it off. The good thing about it is I can tell there is less static when I remove the records from the player. However, I have still had the mat cling to a couple of records upon removing them from the turntable. I definitely don't hear as much static when I'm changing records, though, and it sticks to the records less than the felt did.As far as I can tell, the sound quality is unchanged. I wouldn't expect it to improve your sound quality, and I think the reviewers that make mats out to be some kind of a magical change to their systems' bass and treble response are high. I usually use a record weight, so I don't know if that makes any difference. The appearance isn't great. There's a couple of places maybe an inch or two wide where the mat is just black rubber and lacking any cork. One side is better than the other. It's not really worth returning for that, but I did consider exchanging it. It sounds like more trouble than it's worth, though. The 12" width is a little big. I know it's advertised as such, but still I expected it to be a little smaller. The mat sticks out beyond the recessed top edge of the platter, but it's not too noticeable. It would be a little easier to remove the records if the mat were about 1/4“ less in diameter, and it would look a little nicer, too.For the price, I think it was worth it.

you want to keep improvement to the sound of any turntable?
so like the title says I really can't have anything bad to say about this product because I've used it on five or six different turntables over the last few years and other than one instance where I got one that was bent up and creased, which was probably the fault of the postal service, I can't say anything bad about these things.they really do help to reduce static and they also improve motor noise. I had an older Marantz belt drive turntable that had a bit of a noisy motor. it wasn't a problem when the music was playing but as soon as the music went off you could definitely hear the sound of the motor through the speakers. anyway added this and it didn't completely eliminate it but it made it almost 90% better.

Good Quality, Fit and Performance!
Just received mat and installed on Audio Technica AT-LP 1240 USB turntable, and noticed an immediate difference . There is more clarity, and definition. The sound stage seems deeper and some overly bright features are gone from the sound.Only a very thin felt slip mat came with the Audio Technica AT-LP 1240 USB turntable. That mat is mainly designed for scratching, so I did not use it for long. Instead, I started using an old Technics rubber mat, I previusly salvaged from a defunct turntable. While many people say these are pretty good mats, I always thought it had a slippery surface. I finally decided to replace it. After doing some research, I finally saw the Hudson Cork N Rubber Turntable Platter mat, which was constructed from an interesting marriage of materials. The cork and rubber combination seems to grab much better than the old Technics rubber mat. It, also, seems to help dampen any rumble you might get when you walk in the room, which usually happens if you have your turn table in a cabinet on a joist floor, as I do. To do any better you might have to install the turn table on a very steady wall shelf, or find a concrete floor to install the equipment on.To make it easier to pick up records the Hudson mat is sized slightly smaller than a standard vinyl record, and as an added benefit, this size keeps the outer lip of vinyl records from riding on the mat. which is a condition that can result in record slippage. To further make sure there is absolutely no slippage, between the mat and the platter, you can always use some thin double sided tape at three points on the turn table platter. However, the mat itself does a good job.Quality wise the Hudson Cork N Rubber platter mat seems solid, and looks really sharp on the turn table. Besides that, I am really impressed with Hudson Hi-Fi making their products here in the United States. The Hudson Cork N Rubber Turn Table Platter Mat comes complete inside a record sleeve with their name printed on the sleeve. This is a nice touch. Then you can keep the mat, or the one you are replacing, in the sleeve; right next to your vinyl records in the record cabinet. This company, also, makes a number of other very useful products for the vinyl enthusiast, all U.S. made. It makes me think they really care about their business model, and the ways they serve the public.
