Because all that needs to be done is press the switch off for a little bit then turn it back on. It seems this has got to be done every few weeks and it starts up again. When visiting a friend, I saw that the touchless opening lid kept the can from moving because nothing touches the can to push it backwards. What a revelation! I’ve had this set for about 6 months and the experiment worked! We no longer have marks and dents behind the trash can!
