Does this work to plug into my vehicle's usb port & listen to the music on my ipod classic?

If your car has an entertainment device /system with an media setting it should work fine. I have a 2019 Subaru Outback with car play and it works great also with a different cable works with my iPhone Good luck you should be OK

Will this work to sync a 5th gen iPad?

It should work as long as have a wi-Fi connection.

It works fine with my old iPod classic.

I bought this cable after I decided to fix my old iPod classic. Once I changed the battery and exchanged the hard drive for a new SSD, I realized I had thrown out my old 30 pin cable. This cable was perfect to be able to charge the iPod and connected to my Mac to add and delete music from it. All in all, I am very satisfied with this cable. Us to longevity and quality, I have only owned it for a few months, so time will tell on that one.
