I love it actually .
I liked it! I know many are complaining about this product and when I opened it I was a little bit surprised the amount was so little. Plus it had a brine, which I didn’t expect for some reason. But then I cut it up into long pieces. I used chickpea flour to bread it, but I flavored everything. I took that water out too. I even squeezed the bag to get all of it out. Then I added some chili powder to the pieces, dipped in a flax egg and then my chickpea flour mix. I baked for like 30 minutes. Flipped them at some point. It needs oil so it gets crunchy. It didn’t look pretty but I can see why people would use this for fish like texture. I wasn’t going for that as I always hated fish as a kid and don’t miss it at all. But i can see this looking like some sort of fried fish. But it did not look like some of those pictures I’ve seen. It was dark in color, but it was delicious! I love the texture! My spouse really loved it the most, he did like fish as a kid. I made banana blossom tacos with them and we were filled and can’t believe we’ve never tried this before. I’ll buy it again! Plus the calories is nothing yay, well until you add the batter or breading!

Not sure.
Purchased this to attempt to make vegan catfish. This is the first time I’ve ever purchased banana blossoms so these look different than the recipesI’ve been following that use canned banana blossoms! There’s no whole pieces and they’re all stringy with a pink brown & black color so I don’t know if their spoiled. (The picture with the bowl is with seaweed because I was about to season it) I’m gonna contact the contact the company directly just in case before I go ahead with the recipe so I don’t get sick.Update: 12/5/2020: so I did contact the company and this was the response I got:“It's normal for the Banana Blossom to have some dark spots, but it does look like there might be an issue with the seal of this pouch. I'd be happy to send you a new package from our warehouse just to be safe, just let me know where to send it. We apologize for the hassle!”They sent me a free replacement with no hassle but... it looks exactly the same! Idk how the vfish has that white flesh color like on the box because this is totally brown and just a small bag of remnants! You’d have to do some work to make them into fillets...I wouldn’t purchase this...hopefully Whole Foods can start carrying some canned banana blossomsApril 2021 update——————I decided to give these another go because it’s the only available banana blossoms in my area via WFI made the vegan catfish dupe recipe by Fineapple Vegan & it’s not bad! It can fall apart easily having to pack the small pieces together so make sure you’re using enough vegan ranch & seasoning!!The color is still off putting though....it’s very brown & nothing like the box which causes a huge ocd problem for me but if it doesn’t bother you give it a try!
