Simplicity320DC Protein Skimmer

Love my first DC320 skimmer, it’s quite and very easy to adjust the bubble level by the air intake, water outtake or the power of the dc pump. The collection cup is huge and no need to empty it often. I bought the second one for another sump, the collection cup had a broken neck, both yowpet and the manufacturer Simplicity responded to my email quickly and a replacement cup arrived in two days. I had an issue with the skimmer when I first set it up. I called customer service and they were so helpful. They trouble shot the issue via phone video and sent me a replacement pump. Great customer service and the skimmer is running very well now.

The skimmer started working after a 2 day break in period on my mixed reef 210 gallon. The collection cup is smaller than I would like but I have a drain line to my Swabbie collection container. Time will tell how long the pump will last. I usually soak the pumps in citric acid every 7 months.

The media could not be loaded.  Based on reviews I decided to try this skimmer instead of a higher end one like I usually would have, and I'm bummed. Idk how all these reviews claim this skimmer is silent, it's without a doubt the loudest inanimate object in my house, and it's enclosed behind Plywood. The pump is loud, the silencer is OBNOXIOUS and constantly whistles, and it's not a constant sound, it's like a pulsing whistle, high note, low note, high note, low note etc.Instructions want you to keep this DC pump at 100% to fine tune, but I've found it near impossible to get it tuned to last more than a day or two before the bubbles are far below the neck, or it's created a boiling cauldron sending water everywhere inside my stand. A problem I've never encountered in 10 years of reefing.Let me be clear here, I've owned eshopps, bubble magus, reef octopus and more that were literally silent, and took less than 5 minutes to setup for consistent dark roast skimmate, and I still can't get this one past green tea. I've tried 7-11inches of water, and found about 7.5-8" the "best" spot, but still terrible.As far as construction, it's built well, the materials at least, I have very little to complain about here.In conclusion, if you are buying this to cover up the noise of your overflow, or you need an excuse to keep your TV volume over 50% then this will definitely do the trick. Spend another $150 and save yourself the headache.
