Brilliant!
I have to admit. I felt a bit foolish buying this on a trial for our Hershey. Hershey is near 10 years old. He has hip and knee issues. He also is starting to overheat and pant quite often. He's a good ol' boy who deserves to be spoiled. He loves carpeting over hard wood, he loves dog beds over carpet, he loves the sofas over dog beds and loves king size dog beds over sofas. But I got this to see if it helps him be comfortable with that panting. The package arrived just as it should. On time, boxed appropriately and not damaged. It arrived on a hot 98 degree day here so everything about it was extremely HOT when the delivery guy driving that hot truck on a hot day handed me the package. Shortly after taking it out and laying it on the floor in front of me, I actually noticed a coolness emanating by my feet. Sure enough this pad has magical properties. It was cool to the touch. I thought perhaps I should throw this on the king size dog bed so I can use it at night. Before I could, Hershey noticed the coolness too. To my surprise, he immediately laid down on it. usually takes him some time to warm up to new beds. Not this one. Not only did he take to it right away, I noticed he stopped panting shortly after. There is an memory foam dog bed right next to this. Hershey 99.97% of the time chooses this over the other now. So Haggis and Seamus fight over the memory foam now. He licks the hell out of it. Not sure what that is about. I tried it out, wasn't bacon flavored. He loves him some bacon. But then he does lick the heck out of our leather sofa, and my legs, and Haggis ear, so his standards aren't great. But since he licks it so much I haven't had to clean it, but I'm sure just a wet towel would suffice. I will say I am fully impressed by this product and that it does maintain staying cool. It rebounds quickly to a chill after he has been on it for extended periods of times. He absolutely does love being on it. It isn't real thick so the gel isn't much of a cushion but there is enough for him. But I know he is loving the coolness, probably helps those old joints too. If you were on the fence, not sure, think it couldn't work, or is it worth it to spoil your dog, the answer to all of that is a resounding H E DOUBLE HOCKEY STICKS YES! Do it. Do it now.

My Doberman’s Too Cool To Sweat-Until The Summer Hit. 😅🐾
My Doberman, who never seems bothered by heat, hit a wall this summer. Panting, pacing, flopping off his plush bed like, “I’m DONE.” So I got him this Arf Pets Cooling Mat—and let me tell you, it’s been a lifesaver (for both of us). Real Talk: He’s picky. Like, “sniff it for 5 minutes before deciding if it’s worthy” picky. But the moment he rolled onto this cooling mat? He stayed there. For hours. No water, no freezing, no setup—just instant relief. Cooling Performance: It’s pressure-activated, so the second he lays down, the chill kicks in. Stays cool for a few hours, resets on its own when he gets up. No damp spots, no weird smells. It just works—quietly and consistently. Perfect Companion to His Plush Bed: He still loves his cozy, cushy bed, but when he gets overheated and flops off onto the floor? This cooling mat is right there. Now he alternates between the two like he’s running his own spa rotation. 🐾🛏️❄️ Material & Size: The 27” x 43” size is ideal—gives him space to stretch out but still fits neatly next to his regular bed or inside the crate. Durable, wipe-clean surface that doesn’t crinkle loudly or slip. And it holds up great, even when he does that little pre-nap spin and dig routine. Travel-Friendly: We take it in the car, on patio days, even to vet visits. It folds up easily and weighs next to nothing, so it’s become part of our summer essentials. Value: For the price? Absolutely worth it. Especially when I see how much more relaxed he is. No more restlessly shifting around trying to cool off. Just calm, chilled-out Doberman vibes. Verdict: This summer has been brutal, and this mat is the cool-down he didn’t know he needed. If your pup is struggling with the heat—even if they usually don’t—this is the fix. Arf Pets, you’ve earned your spot on our short list of forever products. #AmazonFinds #DobermanLife #TooHotToHandle #CoolingMatWin #ArfPets #DogParentApproved #SummerPetEssentials #HeatWaveHelper #VineVoiceInTraining #StayCoolStayHappy #DogComfortGoals #DogSpaVibes #PetCareUpgrade

Great, if your pup will use it
I got this mat for an aging pug with a bum ticker and a double fuzzy coat - he is hot all the time and often sleeps on our hardwood floor in the dimmest part of the house just to stay cool. I bought this mat to keep in a more communal area where he can actually see the rest of the family and socialize instead of removing himself to his "chamber" - so far he has used it a few times but it isn't something that he's gravitating to, nor do my other pugs with shorter hair seem that interested. Not sure if it's the cooling effect itself or the thinness of the mat or what - I can't exactly ask them - but they just haven't taken to it. When I do find one using it they seem comfortable enough so I'm not sure what the problem is. Size-wise it's good - my old guy can sprawl all the way out and have his whole body on the mat, and two of them can belly-sleep side by side and still be on the mat. (I have been blessed with overly large pugs, too - tall and heavy, about 28 lbs each, which is huge for the breed.) The mat definitely starts to cool right away; I can feel it when I step on it barefooted. Overall the product is good and works as intended , I apparently just have defective dogs who don't appreciate it. :/

Works wonderfully for hot pups
I'm so glad that I took a chance on this cooling mat. We got a new puppy (lab/G. Shepherd mix) and she runs hot and pants laboriously while sleeping indoors even at 73 F. She doubled her weight in one month (14 lbs to 30 lbs) and she seems to literally feel growing pain while I swear she looks bigger by each day. Being used to purchasing warming cushy mats for my other two older dogs, I never thought I'd need a cooling mat for our indoor dogs. Since the puppy refuses to use any pad that retains heat including carpet, opting for cooler tile/wood floor, I removed the kennel mat from her metal crate that she sleeps in at night. She slept a bit more comfortably on the bare crate plastic lining, but my husband and couldn't sleep for a week with the noise from the lining thumping and rattling with even with the slightest puppy movements. I noticed this mat under Amazon's Today's Deals one day, and immediately placed the order thinking it was a divine sign. After placing the impulsive order, I checked the reviews and almost cancelled the order due to some of the negative reviews, but decided to give it a try to save our sleep trusting the Amazon's return policy. The mat arrived quickly and it was unexpectedly heavy (around 8 lbs), but also unexpectedly thin at not even a quarter inch thick! It was quite warm from sitting outside on my porch on a hot day and I initially thought I was taken for a ride, but the mat actually cooled down very noticeably within 15 minutes. This mat was the answer and it works miraculously! Its weight spread over the crate plastic lining eliminated the thumping and rattling noise of the metal crate, and our puppy slept most comfortably I've seen that night! Even more drastically, we actually slept through the night and my husband complimented me for finding the product in a relief. I only use this mat for night time confinement while crate training. It would be foolish to confine a dog with anything destroy-able in a crate while she's alert and awake during the day. The lining isn't a cheap plastic, but rather more like a sturdy sheeny nylon fabric material that wipes up well. Once our pup gets older and still needs cooling, I'll simply stack the cooling mat on top of another mat if she starts to prefer some cushion. The only thing I could suggest to the manufacturer is to offer the product in more decor-friendly colors than the screaming electric blue. Other than that, I highly recommend this mat for any pup that runs hot with high metabolic growth rate or environmentally overheated.

Works great for humans too. Great if you get hot when trying to sleep
Tldr: I recommend this for people without ac. It works perfectly as intended and probably better for humans. I'm able to sleep in the heat with this! Full review: Got this for my cats as a precaution for the summer weather but they actually seem to not need it which is good. I live in a camper and can't run my ac all the time yet. It gets hot around 4pm which is when im asleep cuz of my job I don't run my ac while asleep and have been heating up at those times so one day I just laid on this and it worked like magic. It absorbed my body heat and cooled me down and I slept perfectly fine. When I wake up the mat is very warm because of how it works but I felt cool. I just let this lay flat on my RV couch when I'm not using it and about 20 mins later it'll be cool the touch* again like it advertised I use this with my shirt off and just shorts on so I make skin contact. Doesn't work nearly as quickly or noticably with a clothing barrier The mat is thin, slightly squishy because of the gel inside, the cover material is smooth and waterproof. Folds well because of how thin it is but I always just let mine lay on the couch. Because it's thin, soft, and smooth it's perfectly comfortable to sit or lay on (*The mat itself isn't cool. How it works is that it absorbs your body heat and makes you feel cooler as a result. If you want it to be actually colder, stick it in the fridge or freezer for a few hours. I don't feel the need to do that though, it functions perfectly as intended)

Cooling works, durability is not there
The cooling feature definitely works. The quality isn't terrible however, I think it could be more durable. My Beagle doesn't chew on a lot of things but this is one she went crazy about and it was destroyed in a few minutes. Personally, I think it should be made more durable since it is for dogs.

Works to help keep my dog cool
This pad works as advertised. It is cool to the touch and sufficiently thick to provide a comfortable sleeping and resting surface. I purchased it to put in my dog's travel crate in my Suburban to help cool her down after exercising in hot weather. During late July 2025 she spent 10 days at a boarding kennel in New England. because she enjoys the pad so much traveling I left it for her to use at the kennel. The kennel owner said Maisie slept and rested on. She was very impressed with the cooling-effect of the pad. Maisie enjoys the pad so much that I purchased a second pad to keep in the house. Given her much Maisie enjoys the pad I think it's a very good value and am very pleased with it.

Definitely cools
I bought this for a variocage that is in my suv trunk area. My dog and I go to trials and the next few are scheduled in August. During trials your dog has to be car crated unless it’s the dog’s turn or the dog is pottying. I have an aliminet that covers the whole car and several fans I run, but a black dog in summer is going to be hot. When I ordered this I didn’t think it could do anything it claimed, I was just desperate enough to try it. When I grabbed it out of the box that had been sitting on my front steps in the sun for hours I noticed it was cool. Really cool. Which blew my mind. I laid it on the floor and laid on it and my back got cool. What kind of weird magic is this??? My dog wouldn’t try it, but when it goes in the variocage she won’t have a choice. It takes up the whole floor of it. While the description here on Amazon says it’s non toxic, the information received with it says if your dog swallows any of the gel go to a vet immediately. So I personally won’t let her lay on it unless I’m with her and watching her. She isn’t much of a chewer in the house, but gets bored in the crate. I’ll just pull it out of the crate if I have to leave the car and go to the bathroom.
