Quick and Easy Way To Make Soup.
Powdered soup bases are easy to store and this one makes up quickly, without a visible trace of the vegetable. But you could add a little fresh or canned asparagus if you prefer. Our family likes the taste of the soup.

The product is accurately described, well packaged by the seller, & delivered promptly… zero issues with any of that! The lower rating reflects the disappointing quality of the actual product. As a stand alone cream of white asparagus, it absolutely fails. More frustrating is that the product is super easy to handle: it dissolves in water beautifully with no annoying lumps to deal with & can be served in less than 10 minutes… but I doubt anyone would know it’s cream of white asparagus in a blind taste test. If only tasted a bit more like what it’s supposed to be, I’d refrain from writing this review.I bought this product hoping that it would FEEL at least a bit similar to the Knorr soup I enjoyed as a kid. Alas, my ask was too lofty & clearly set myself up for disappointment. On that note, one could argue that unmet personal expectations about a generally serviceable product are external vanities proper only to the expectant and not an intrinsic shortcoming of the actual product. Yet nothing about this product is cream of white asparagus, except for its basic qualities as a soup, 2 white asparagus spears pictured on the back side of the package, & it’s name. To me it tasted more like Central Park hot dog cart dirty water than a cream of white asparagus soup… very salty, strangely greasy, & slightly flavored with some sort(s) aromatic(s) too faint to decipher. It doesn’t smell nor taste like asparagus of any kind… with no trace of sulfurous asparagusic acid, it becomes a dirty white slurry of salt, starch, & water speckled with brownish green floaters that I think are meant to be chives (only per the package picture, nothing tastes like chive or any other herb in this product.)I’d love to know how other customers use this product… maybe in cooking as a base or condiment for something better? I wouldn’t risk ruining food by experimenting with it… alternative recipes are necessary for “off label” usage, for sure. I bought a bundle of 3 asparagus soups… I’ve 2 left: free to anyone that wants them!!
