The Gate of Bones (Volume 2)

one of the worst
One of the worst warhammer 40k books ive ever read, and i read a lot of them.Spoiler alert. Its not the style of writing thats the problem with this book but the authors absolute disregard for logic within the 40k universe. So without going into to much detail about the story im just going to list some of the most extreme of the complete and absolute fallacies youll find in this book.A chaos space marine can get burned by a heavy flamer carried by an imperial knight for several minutes without dying and then proceed to just rip through the knights armour without using any tools and kill the pilot inside. Well, i know what youre thinking. Thats impossible. A chaos space marine wont survive getting burned by a knight mounted flamer. And heres the fun part, even in this very book, the knight burns dotzens of chaos astartes without any problems but when the plot needs it to happen because the author thinks it would be cool all of a sudden, the rules of reality change. You also might think that nothing but the very strongest weapons or tools would be able to force its way through an imperial knights armour into the pilots cockpit. Yeah…again, the book describes the knight getting hit by all kinds of stuff without even taking a dent but then when the plot needs it to happen, simsalabim, a chaos knight just rips through a knights armour and walks right into the cockpit to kill the pilot. After sacrificing enough people, a chaos space marine is so mighty he can beat two custodian (yes, CUSTODIAN) just by flicking his fingers. YES that really happens in the book, ive read the part 3 times because i couldnt belive it. So the chaos space marine just flicks his finger and the CUSTODIAN is floating in the air complete immobilised. Then the chaos space marine continues to just walk up to him and kill him by a blow with his hammer to the head. So i dont think ive got to explain how completely idiotic and ridiculous this is. We are talking about god damn custodians here. The mighties warriors of the universe the book itself states, that 30 of these warriors would be enough to conquer an entire planet. And again, in this book, they kill dotzens of chaos space marines without any issue but then…the plot needs it to happen and TWO CUSTODIANS get beat by one chaos space marine because he can just stop them right in their tracks by a flick of his finger. Yeah. Im not sure, why have the forces of chaos not won this war against the imperium centuries ago? When normal chaos space marines just need to sacrifice a few people to obtain the power to defeat CUSTODIANS with a flick of their finger? Fun fact after he killed a custodian and completely immobilised another on the chaos space marine is killed by….standard bolts fired from standard weapons. Right. He beat the custodians because they didnt try to shoot at him first because that would have been the way to kill him.And whats the basic story of this book? Chaos builds a giant cannon that shoots ghosts. Yep, im not kidding. It shoots ghosts and they take out an entire fleet with a single shot of their ghost cannon.Reading BS like found in this book hurts, it just hurts if you know a thing or two about the warhammer universe. So after having read through this book i realized i have read an awful book with very similar logic fallacies before. Shroud of knight. I looked it up and guess what, its the same author. This guy should be kept from writing any more warhammer 40k books by any means possible. Hes a lazy writing chaos fanboy who just uses the warp as an excuse for his logic fallacies.

Aporta poco o nada nuevo.
Está bien escrita pero la segunda mitad del libro me aburrió, está bien que haya acción, pero creo que el mundo 40k tiene mucho más transfondo y riqueza que esta novela no ofrece.

This one stumbled.
The last third of the story can be seen from orbit so bad that I have put the book down and have yet to pick it up again.

Great continuation
A fun read with Guilliman moving the crusade along. This book focuses on a shrine world in danger of being taken by Chaos, and some fun characters are introduced. I enjoyed the characters, and the fighting and some nice looks at what the Custodians think of what is going on in the Imperium. Not enough Cawl, though.

A great example of the grim dark 40k universe.
This book puts the harshness of war on paper; from the start where General Dvorgin leads some Mordian scouts on a mission to the end where the Custodians lead the final charge. It's paints battle as dark and gruesome. Throughout the book you see how the battles take a toll on the different soldiers. I am really impressed with Andy Clark here.
