This inlet box only accepts connectors that are 1.90" or less in diameter.POWERTRONICS and Levitron L14-30's wouldn't lock in because they are 1.950" in diameter.Bryant L14-30 will lock in because it is 1.89" in diameter.I had to shave off .050" around the end of a POWERTRONICS L14-30 Connector to make it fit.My photos show the POWERTRONICS measurements of non-shaved and shaved areas.Also I show a Byrant measurement that worked.Note: All the connectors would lock in my generator transfer switch, so the problem was definitely with this inlet box.After I shaved the end on my bench grinder the POWERTRONICS L14-30 would lock in OK.This inlet box now works OK and seems very sturdy and well built.

I bought this to plug my portable generator to my house. It is built like a safe. Heavy and strong. At 50 amps I know it will handle the load. It was too expensive but I had no choice because of covid it was not available at home depot or Lowes at a much cheaper price. All of the bits and pieces I needed for the generator were not available except on line. Anyhow this thing will do the job however the knock outs seem to be too small for the size wire required for 50 amps of power. That requires 4 #6 wires. # 6 romex is huge. even 4 #6 individual coated wires take a lot of room. They should have made a larger knock out. It is made for a 3/4 inch conduit much too small. Otherwise very well made.

The product was well wrapped and without damage, however even though it was an L14-30 power inlet (male) it would not accept an L14-30 female plug. I tried multiple female plugs and all with the same result. It does not allow the female portion to be inserted far enough to give the quarter turn to be fully engaged. I have been an E-1 electrician for almost 20 years, I will be returning this item.

The knockout holes on bottom and sides are pressed to look like they're ready to be knocked out but not perforated. You have to actually drill them out with a bipedal holesaw. I had to run back home during installation to get the 1 tool I didn't bring with me by accident nor did I think I would have needed it.

Seemed like great quality BUT, But you cant push your L14-30C connector in far enough so that you can twist and lock it on. Item returned and time wasted
