Easy to install

I needed some speaker replacements for my 2010 Ford Escape. Had a couple that were blown. These seemed like what I was looking for. The speakers arrived on time, and everything that was promised was in the box. I did not really need the speaker wire for this job, but it was a good deal paired with the 4 speakers and Metra Harnesses. These 6x8 speakers fit perfectly in my Escape, no drilling extra holes. Installation was very easy The hard part is figuring out how your door panels come off. The Metra harnesses are a must have, they make it so simple. We have the Audiophile package in our Escape with an 8" factory sub in the back. These Kicker 40CS684 6x8 speaker sound great with our sytem. Glad I bought them. Price was good too.

Everything installed easily and quickly EXCEPT - read on several posts that the wiring adapters were reversed so would throw in the opposite direction (can cancel/weaken subwoofer output if out of phase) so checked with the dealer and traced detailed wiring harness schematics and sure enough, they are reversed, cut the wires, corrected the + to - reversal and soldered and heat shrinked wires back, a little inconvient but not any harder than a typical install, and I had everythough out installing a new head unit, back up cam and computer interface anyway - speakers sound good, handle plenty of power and were a nice inexpensive upgrade to my new to me, used truck

These kickers sound great, of course. Perfect for my 400w, 4 CH JL Audio amp. I've got mids back because I no longer need to use the High Pass filter to avoid distortion at max volumes, as with the 16 yr stock speakers. You wont get thumping base from these little guys, but I do slighlty feel their out put, at higher volumes, in my F150 supercab. I'd give 5 stars if not for the fact that the speakers still come with wire harness adapter cables that are reversed polarity, a long known issue/complaint. The black(+) wire should have the wide blade female connector and the white(-) wire, the narrow connector, to properly match the terminals on the speaker. Comes with speaker wire pigtails that I used, instead, and simply stuck the wire ends direct into corresponding terminal in my truck's factory wire harness because, it provides a tight connection. Suggestion for 5 stars: keep the role of speaker wire and reversed polarity wire harness adapter cables and drop the price $20. Also, I would like the Kicker stickers, that I have always received with Kicker products.

I bought a 2006 F-150 Harley Davidson edition a few weeks back. The previous owner had a system in it but replaced the speakers with blown factory speakers. I went by the reviews I read on here and let me tell you the sound that came out of these is amazing without an amp just the power from an aftermarket radio. I highly recommend them. The only issue I had were the tabs on the ends of them had to be bent up so speaker could go in, but the other holes lined up perfect. Great bass response and sound is clear and crisp. Can't wait to hook them up to an amp to see what they really are capable of.
