Discovery Set

These are the first products I've purchased since discovering I have type 2b/2c hair. So far they're really nice. The creme is a bit too heavy for my hair, but the gel is good.

About my hair: slightly fine, Caucasian, 2 a/b/c waves and curls. My hair tends to be dry and frizz prone. My scalp is prone to build-up, so I’m constantly trying to find the balance between moisturizing and cleansing.I took most of this set on a 2 week vacation to Australia. I really liked the shampoo (blue bottle) and curl conditioner in this set. I watched a youtube video that said the curl conditioner could be used as a leave in, so I usually rinsed about 95% of it out. Combined with a small amount of Ouai oil-gel, the Boucleme or DevaCurl curl cream, and topped off with Ouai air dry foam—I finally had eco-friendly, low frizz curls that looked GOOD.Curls hold up for a couple days l. I usually go about 3 days between washes and ponytail it by day 3. The Boucleme curl cleanser shines as a curl refresher between washes if I can’t wait until day 3, but it’s far too oily to use on my scalp as a traditional cleansing shampoo. I do find I can use less styling products on these days as well.I did not love the gel - my hair dried a bit frizzy with it. I may still try to find a use for it though.

The bottles are beautiful and I was so hoping the product would be amazing in my hair. Unfortunately so far the results are not too impressive. I use DevaCurl so I am quite used to the "no-lather" concept but the experience of DevaCurl products is superior. I used the Boucleme "lathering" shampoo, which cleaned my hair, but when I used the conditioner, I could not even run my fingers through my curls. I had to use a different, more slippery conditioner to get this to work, which means it really didn't. My Kiehls Damage Repairing Conditioner saved the day on this one. Bianca Renee on YouTube has a review of this stuff and my experience was basically her experience.

Overall great products for curly hair. They don't weigh my hair down and have good hold.

Hate to say it but I did not love this and neither did my curls. The tea tree scent was way too overpowering and my curls looked horrible and weighed down. Unfortunately, returned. However- everyone has different hair so this may be right up your ally.
