Serves it purpose
Very useful to make our soups clear

This skimmer is not very sturdy. I was hoping that it was stiffer to hold deep fried products.
The length of the skimmer is fine. The screen basket is also large enough My concern is that it is not sturdy enough to hold deep fried foods that have some weight. I wish it was stronger for this purpose. I do not like the flex when lifting product.

Skimmer"MyLifeUNIT"304SsD4"L11"h2"FineMesh
Nice skimmer for water-based soups in medium diameter pots. Narrow specialization - just for correct properties of food and bowl diameter and not deep enough for some users. It by the way does the job. Good quality of execution. Just not my style. Mesh is so fine that if you have something like oil/ fats in food then the surface tension of the liquid in soup is too high to permit liquid to go through such a fine mesh which become hydro-phobic and repel liquid from wet/ moisten that steel mesh surface. This is the kind of realization of old folk joke about efficiency of transporting "water in a sieve" - though it is not exactly water but with oil. You could argument that oils are not good for human or dog health but I'm not accepting that conception. Trans-fats are bad, but omega-3 are very good, etc. Sometimes I use this skimmer but if I have to add any fat-soluble vitamin as D - then I've to have oil in my soup - so I've to skim before I add oily food and only after cooking - that means without high temperatures. I just use skimmer with bigger mesh-cell-size and doesn't transport oily water into my bowl. So if you understand all restrictions of this item and use it correctly then it's a good product. If anybody prefers to use some computer-notebook literally to nail or screw broccoli into food-dish and blame computer quality for not doing that job then good luck. This is a good product. I usually use skimmer with 2 inches diameter - not 4 inches but sometimes I need this one. Sometime I need exactly to skim any grease/ fats from the surface of my soup and then this is the correct Item for such a thing - an I even could incline this spoon and the water would be poor over edge and the grease I wanted to be caught is in this spoon - that's a pretty important function.

Great skimmer for cooking dals/lentils and other products that require skimming
Lightweight and very easy to use. Great seller

Works Great
Easy to use and it picks up nearly all of the scum/fat thatโs floating on top of the soup. Itโs a tad flimsy but still durable enough to do whatโs itโs made to do so no problem there. The handle is a bit shorter than my old one but thatโs okay Iโm not using it to reach and scoop inside the soup, just the top. I gave it 4 stars because it could be better made for $7/$8.

Good to have, but make sure you know what 4" means
Handy tool for a multitude of uses. Not very robust, but should be fine if treated with reasonable care. It's also smaller than I expected, but that was my fault. I knew from the description that it was 4" in diameter, but in my mind, 4" was a bit larger than in it in reality. (Next time I buy something where size may matter, I'll pull out a ruler or yardstick to check.) Still, despite being a bit smaller than I thought it would be, it has come in handy for all kinds of things. The mesh is very fine, much finer than any of my strainers, so it's great for removing bits of fried foods from the cooking oil when deep frying (so they won't burn and affect the flavor of the oil). I've also used it to remove the foam when making ghee -- worked great! It would be nice if the handle were a little longer and sturdier.Overall, I'm glad I bought it.

Best stock scum-skimmer EVER
This thing rocks! Making my first stock since purchasing, and skimming the foamy-scum off the top is now a breeze! Simple, cheap, effective little tool - if you make soups & stocks with any regularity, you need one of these. Feels a little flimsy, but does it really need to be otherwise?UPDATE: after about 4 rounds of stock making I'm just as happy as I was after the first. So easy to skim the scum/foam from your stock & leave behind all the liquid. Not sure why it took me so long to get one of these.

Disappointed
Much too flimsy for even the low price. The handle bends with any pressure. Not really useful for even skimming broth as it keeps bending. I am counting the days until it actually breaks.

very thin, and doesnt remove grease.
this product came and was very light, and almost fragile feeling. And it looked just a like a normal strainer. But I thought what the heck, if it removes grease off the top while cooking then I'm ok with that. Well. It didnt. the only grease that came off with it was the bit that stayed on the mesh. No more / no less. No better than a normal mesh strainer which we all have. Don't buy it expecting grease collecting properties but it does skim small bits from soup.

Exactly what I was looking for in a skimming tool.
I was hesitant to purchase this item upon reading the reviews. It however is exactly what I have been looking for. As to others claims that it is flimsy and falls apart I would have to remind people that it is a skimming tool...not an ice cream scooper. If used for it's proper function then it is perfect. As to claims that it falls apart when cleaning...once again you have to clean it gently. It was never designed to be scrubbed aggressively. I am definitely planning on purchasing another one for my cooking needs.

Don't know how we ever made soup without it
A must have tool for taking your broth soups to the next level. Is able to remove the scum from the top of the broth with ease without removing the broth. Also takes the oils off the top to make for a more pleasant and healthier soup. The skimmer is a little thin but is perfectly adequate for removing scum and oils. Excellent value for the amount spent, just need to be careful when you put it away that you don't put anything heavy on it.

Well made, durable.
Perfect tiny, very fine mesh to skim off foam (or grease) when cooking. I use it for making jams to skim off the foam before pouring into jar,s so that the end product is a clear/non cloudy jam. Stainless steel is much more durable and easy to clean and withstands hot liquids much better than plastic. Well made-no uneven edges, no mesh screen poking past edge. Very durable-will not fall apart.
