How is the traction on wet surfaces or graded trails? Is this shoe suitable for mild "off sidewalk" hikes?

Yes, I have a small farm in Florida and I use these all the time. They are good for little hikes and are fine on wet surfaces. Be aware, though, these are far from hiking shoes. These are casual wear everyday shoes but I love the price point for the quality and fit you get. I buy a few pair every three years or so. A few years ago, I did find a Hilfiger hiker/rain boot on sale for $19. Just keep on the lookout.
