Expensive and Weak
HD-PVR 2 Yes perfect unit and was expensive when I purchased it.. but things started to go wrong as usual outside the guarantee period. All worked on this unit set up was easy and then things began to go wrong.Pain in the neck!Blank screen HDMI connection screen states. When I examined this unit and looked closer the Mini/Micro socket on the back that connects to a PC was lose. The cable M/Micro plug at one end and a normal sized USB plug at the other seemed a sloppy fit, moving the plug in the scoket I would get video no problem but then take my finger off the plug and now no video.Who ever decided they were going to use a M/Micro USB socket in that machine needs their head tested,IT's not man enough a totally incomplete unit that really from a design point of view was flawed from the begining. It's not like these units brand new are cheap, but with that rubbish socket its a complete disaster.Stay well clear of the PVR2.Other units will all go the same way mine did.I'm able to carry out this repair but I'd rather not giving the price I paid for the unit brand new.Plus how micro everything is inside it.I decided not to purchase another PVR2 or even buy a brand new one.If anyone is thinking about buying a second hand one I would advise don't do it.MAKE SURE YOU CHECK THIS SOCKET..The unit might work right out the box however the chances are the M/Micro USB plug might be lose in that socket.Should you decide to purchase one of these as new, make sure that the supplied cable you somehow lock it to the case to prevent any chance of that cable being pulled out or even knocked when its fully pushed in.If your eyes not working so well get some nail polish and dab a color on the top of the plug so you don't ever end up forcing the plug into the socket upside down. With my unit there was no need for me to keep un-plugging this lead, mine seemed to just go lose over time? Now the PVR 60 Gaming Edition I purchased this one second hand, and that USB connection socket is the same as a printer type socket that's what I call man enough. This is what the PVR2 should have had, not this stupid flimsy M/Micro USB socket..In comparison to the PVR2 which basically worked right out the box and had sound, I had nothing but hell trying to set the PVR 60 up with NO SOUND!Well that problem I fixed but it took me ages to find out what was causing this issue absolutely nothing on the web other then the "HDMI cable Just turn it around"Yes as if that works just make sure the HDMI cables are properly seated fullyWell the PVR 60 working now but I really want the PVR2 back..Three things I like about the PVR60 once I got it going..1.Printer Type USB connection number is 1.2.The metal type finish on the top.3.The red recording light.Hauppauge if you read this how much would you charge to repair, the PVR2?Well you know what they say if you don't ask you don't get so I'm asking...Preferbly someone within the UK nearby.Picture quality everything cannot be faulted but only when the unit decides to work.I will update accordingly and provide some images later.Hope this helps someone out there from making a what could be a costly mistake.
