These are very nice looking bookends. They would look good as a stand alone decoration as well. I looked through at least 10 pages on Amazon in my search for bookends and these were priced at about 2/3 to 1/2 of most other decorative items. I was a little worried that they would be cheap and sloppy looking, but I went ahead and purchased them anyway. The look of these is great and well worth the price. The little details are very intricate and well done. They do not look sloppy at all. My only complaint is that the books tend to lean a little (as opposed to standing straight up) due to the lack of a flat edge to place against the books. However, I was pretty sure that would happen from looking at the picture and I bought them anyway so I can't really complain about that.I give this product 5 stars because they are so much better looking than I thought they would be. They are just so intricate and the distressed finish gives them an old, antique-ish look. I am very satisfied with this product.

I had never really used bookends nor did I have anything close to looking like a Foo Dog. I ordered the book ends because I wante something exotic but not too big to be placed on my desk without taking up too much space. These were perfect! They add a feel to my little work area. They have a bit of weight to them, but that's just enough to keep the few books I have on the desk in check and they are fierce in look.I think I have a different set from the ones on the pictures, but one of them actually has it's paw/claw on a little creature (the one with the open mouth that is suppose to ward of bad spirits). It's something that I was really fascinated with for hours when I took them out of the box. Overall this was a great purchase and I love my Foo Dogs now!
