Very easy to put in a 500 GB Hitachi SATA drive in just a few minutes. As somebody mentioned, have to be careful not to lose the tiny screws. It looks very good, is cool and silent when working, and it is well planned and thought out.I was pleased to find that it had a long power cord...too often they are too short on other products to reach my power strip or UPS.If I had to find something to complain about, it would be that the blue ON light is a bit too bright, but hey, if that is the worst, it is a great little product. ### ⭐ 1.0 out of 5 stars Failed after less than 1 week *by C***S on Reviewed in the United States on September 6, 2010* Enclosure is inexpensive and appears solidly made out of aluminum of a thickness to not be flimsy. However, after less than one week plugged into my laptop and sitting safely on my desk, the unit began beeping continuously once per second and would not longer mount to the OS. Removed hard disk from enclosure and verified operation in a desktop computer. The hard disk works, the problem must be with the enclosure. Very disappointed. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ 5.0 out of 5 stars Straightforward, high quality external HDD enclosure for SATA drives *by P***E on Reviewed in the United States on August 3, 2010* I was recycling an old PC computer and thought I'd remove the old internal HDD and use it as a stand-alone drive for my iMac. I had never done something like this before so with a little Internet research I found the essential information I needed: (1) what type of HDD drive I had, (2) what type of enclosed was needed, and (3) what type of connectors were needed on the external HDD enclosure to connect to the iMac.From all the myriad of HDD enclosure cases available, I choose this Adcomdata case because of the positive reviews. Now I can add my own accolades.The case is well made, comes with all the necessary hardware (screws, power/USB cords, stand/feet), and decent instructions. The old PC drive slide right into the SATA connectors. All the pre-drilled assembly screw holes aligned properly for easy case assembly and all the screws were easily inserted. Connected the power cord and USB cable, and Voila! - it mounted on the iMac as a read-only drive. So now I have access to all the old PC files from the iMac without having to transfer them via some other means. When I wish to have another external, writeable Apple-format drive, all I have to do is reformat that drive with Disk Utility.One bit of advice that I found from my Internet research - insert a thin plastic sheet (I used clear packing tape) on the inside of the external case next to the HDD circuit board to prevent inadvertent contact between the case and CB.When I am ready to add a very large external drive to the iMac, I will consider making my own using this enclosure and another, raw HDD.
