I would like to put a small apple, half sandwich and yogurt in this box but it is not quite deep enough to close the lid properly. I have to slice up the apple. The elastic band will help keep the lid on even if the items are too tall but this allows air into the box. There is a clear lid that forms somewhat of a seal if your items are not to big but the white top will only stay in place with the elastic band. Four JUMBO muffin liners will separate the box into four perfect sections when needed (and sometimes, it is) two inside the box allow a sandwich (cut in half and stacked... sometimes a bit staggered if they are thicker sandwiches) and some pretzels or crackers to fit in with the sides.I usually use at least two muffin liners... one for salad or a veggie, one for a fruit.Also, the little round 4oz glad disposable tupperware containers fit in there PERFECTLY for dip (like peanut butter or hummus for veggies and other things instead of a traditional entree)The container fits with room to spare in her lunchbox, though, so when I do need to send an item in a separate container alongside, it's no issue (like ketchup), but typically, everything fits)Remember, this is intended for bento-style lunches, so it's intended that everything fit snug and tight against each other.My daughter really enjoys being able to have one container where she opens it and everything is in front of her. She used to use a panda bento box, but it's just a little too small for her most days now.And if I stuff the box, it holds enough lunch for me, so if the price ever drops to a penny again, I'll definitely be snagging another.Oh... and the 2nd lid is perfect for keeping a cloth (or paper) napkin folded and clean with your lunch... a small pair of chopsticks might also fit for those taking some.
