I was disappointed that this arrived with scratches and gouges. My concern is that these will be weak points and the ceramic heat shield will eventually crack. I need it now and it will be covered, otherwise I would return it. I am going to mount it on a board to reinforce it and limit the concern of cracking. Update 12/06/2025 I have used this material as a heat shield for a set of motor controllers. I cut it to fit the size of the enclosure and it has not cracked and broken as was my concern. Now I am expanding the design of motor controllers and need to use a larger piece to back larger motor controllers that will include a fan. I am purchasing it again. If you purchase you need to realize the limitations of the product. It is an inexpensive way to have a non conductive heat shield for electronic components, it is a composite material so you must secure it properly, however it will protect your components from heat.

Used to sandwich between the walls of a generator shed. You know the type? It was a Suncast 34 cu ft storage shed and I used it on both sides of the shed walls supported with 2 pieces of 6" x6" plywood with a hole drilled for the exhaust. Works like a charm to dissipate the heat so it doesn't melt the shed. Oh I also wrapped the BXI/plywood pieces with silver duct tape to keep it dry. Great stuff! Cuts like drywall.
