I've tried for years to help my wife overcome recurring UTI with various single-chemical supplements, but without much success. Antibiotics do work but the infections recur pretty promptly and the antibiotics cause yeast infections and other problems.In our experience since we picked up some in New York 7 weeks ago, the two Cystex products "Cystex Plus Urinary Pain Relief Tablets" and "Cystex Liquid Cranberry Complex" (also called "Cystex Urinary Maintenance Plus Cranberry") work both to remove and prevent UTI. To my knowledge it's the only product set on the market that works this well. My wife and I plan to keep it on hand indefinitely. It is not available in stores in Canada, but can be ordered for delivery online. A friend who also has had recurring UTI for years and was given a bottle from our stash just phoned to say "No more pain!". Relief is dramatic and consistent."Cystex Plus Urinary pain release tablets" is interesting as it should do more than pain relief; it contains methenamine (and aspirin), a funny little compound that breaks down in acid, especially bacterial biofilms in the bladder, to release antiseptic chemicals that would target the bacteria hiding in the film, and not the bladder cells. Cystex Liquid contains enough ascorbic acid (vitamin C) and cranberry extract to help activate the methenamine in the Cystex pain release tablets so the two products seem designed to work together, but the product information given does not mention this. I gather that these tablets should not be taken all the time, just occasionally.BTW My minor in college was chemistry, but that was 45 years ago. It was of some help. It did help some with the pain and the burning that I was having, but didn't totally eliminate it.It made the time from beginning symptoms to prescription relief more tolerable so it is nice to have on hand.I wouldn't use this alone, just as something to help until you can get to a doctor and be treated.

I am often getting chronic prostatitis and those ease the pain before starting antibiotics and while taking them, unti the antibiotics kick in (if it do).Read the instructions and warnings carefully and always consult your doctor before taking any medication especially if you are already taking medications for other health issues.
