Bought this for a gift. On receipt, it became immediately evident that you'd have to have a very low opinion of the recipient if you wanted to give it to them as a gift. Literally no useful information, and what 'information' is there looks like it was downloaded and printed from Wikipedia's much more simple minded cousin. Now being used to balance a table leg, and it doesn't even do that very well.

What motivates this small country in Western Europe to throw off the Spanish rule and set up company that is greater in value than a lot of 21 st century greats.National pride and personal greed was behind much of the success of VoC .This book is long enough to whet ones desire to lean more of this company and her rival the English East India company.Modern companies are huge but don’t match the corporation.Long enough to make the reader seek more information

オランダ東インド会社の小史。ページ数も少なく、解説は、ウキペディア等に拠っている。しかし、手短に東インド会社のことを知ろうとした場合、概説本として十分である。入門書としての利用を期待したい。

Very disappointed. Only 64 pages. I thought that I was getting a "real" paperback history book.The work is possibly good (I haven't started reading yet) but the length is pathetic.There is NOTHING in the first page of the description to indicate that this is nothing more than a condensed version of what a "real" vbook could have been

I bought this as a Christmas present and as it was 11 pounds I presumed it would be a book but turned out to be a pamphlet
