Important note about rechargables
Reviewing the gateway with 1 smart thermostatic rad valve. The gateway is tiny. I don't know why, but I was expecting something the size of a mobile phone perhaps. But it is tiny and can be hidden away discretely. It is powered by USB though and doesn't come with a power outlet adaptor, just a USB cable, which is disappointing. The gateway can be set up in a minute or two and paired to the smart life app easily. Great. The radiator valve is a bit of a pain though.Read the instructions carefully. I was expecting the wifi icon to show on its own before I press and hold the home button but this is not the case. Selecting the wifi icon is done by clicking the + icon many times. It is the last in the list so nothing happens when you reach the wifi icon, it doesn't flash until you then press and hold the home button. hope this makes sense to someone.Anyway once you have started the initial calibration. Then connected to the wifi and app, you will likely need to download firmware. These activities seemed to drain my NiMh rechargable batteries.Put new batteries in (use rechargable, there's a good human) and then make sure you recalibrate again by following the instructions to start at AD1.I found that by not recalibrating a 2nd time, the app basically stopped sending any schedule or temperature updates to the valve.Setting up was a complete hassle. But, these are nice looking things. They give off no light pollution. They are virtually silent. You can hear a slight whirr on one of my radiators, just due to the composition of that particular radiator. They work in manual mode if you lose connection. The app is fairly good (although what some of the settings do I have no idea).I am yet to use these in winter so I will update accordingly but setup aside, first impressions are good.---- UpdateI have struggled with battery drain on these valve heads. My 2800mah rechargeable batteries were being drained to zero in 2 or 3 days. After a lot of investigation with the excellent Ketotek customer service it transpires the valves are only compatible with alkaline batteries. Rechargeables have a slightly lower voltage output which makes them unsuitable for this product. This wasn't mentioned on the advert when purchasing. Big shame as I have moved away from non-rechargeables so I will be returning these radiator valves.Update 2Further investigation and rechargeable lithium batteries are fine with this product. It demands a 1.5v battery voltage, which the lithium AAs provide. NiMh batteries only provide 1.43v which isn't enough.Running on the new batteries my valves are behaving really well and are responsive to app changes that I make. This morning my bedroom is warm but the rest of the house is cold, the radiators are on except in my bedroom. Great! The other radiators though are set to 20 degrees but the app says the current temp is 25degrees, the valves are still open and warming the room which is odd. That said the thermometer in one of my rooms says 20degrees not 25 as reported from the valve so that's odd.Not a perfect system but still very impressive and I'm glad I have them and found a solution re: rechargeables. Recommended.

Does the job
It is a good TRV. Using it with Home Assistant and it works like a charm

OK for the money...
There are many smart TRV's on the market. I bought a couple of different ones to try. I use it with the Home Assistant smart home system. This TRV was a bit of a pig to set up initially but has run perfectly for a few months now. Eventually, however I settled on these TRV's from Drayton.. https://amzn.to/3s4gY1zIf you only need a couple of TRV's, these will be OK.

More frustration than it's worth
The taps flag "Low battery alarm" every week; they stop responding. Every day it appears that something needs to be updated or changed on one of them. This is not a large house, they are quite close to the router, but they just don't respond. The attachments are weak, to say the least so they are frequently crooked or falling off the radiator.Sorry to all those who wrote good reviews, this is a review written after a few months of usage. My recommendation: buy something more expensive that will work.

It does the job, but could be easier to set up.
It does the job. It keeps the temperature, and it is easy to use once set up. I had a few issues to make it up and running so some improvements would be beneficial.

poor battery life
Bought 5 of these. easy to set up. Nice app. but battery life is less than one week. having to change batteries 8n 5 units every week renders them pretty useless. support is also limited.
