METAL 12 PORT BIRD FEEDER
I ordered this metal feeder as I have a squirrel who likes to chew through the plastic feeders. It is well put together but unlike the plastic feeders, the portholes are held in place with screws rather than a "twist and clip' system. This will make it a lot more fiddly to dissemble for washing. Also there is a lip on the bottom which collects the discarded seed and needs to be wiped clean often. I have also noticed that the larger birds ( jackdaws, pigeons, starlings ) are able to cling on to the perches and take seed. Overall - it's okay but would prefer the bottom lip to disappear.I have attached a picture showing the metal feeder ( to the right of the picture ) with the plastic feeder.

Birds love it
Local squirrels do as well. Fantastic to watch their acrobatics to get to itCapacity great as only need to refill every 4 or 5 days.

Well….
I should have read the dimensions, enough to feed all the birds in our little village! At the moment we only have acrobatic pidgeons - how do I discourage them!

Good & Not So Good
A sturdy and well made feeder, very heavy when filled up and at present the birds have hardly touched it, possibly because it is new. However the down side as I see it is cleaning the inside in time to come, unless someone can explain how it comes apart for cleaning all I can envisage is blasting it with a powerful hose?Which has to be done in time to remove rotting seeds.

Oh what a poor design.......and such a disappointment
Sturdy box arrived with the feed packed in lots of shredded cardboard & very dusty. I thought this was going to be an excellent replacement for one very similar I'd had in the past which the birds loved (previous one was in plastic and the handle broke probably due to the weight of the seeds). Then the reality & realisation of what someone else said on a review here - the perches are WRONG. Not just a little bit, but a lot. Tom Chambers is not even following their other smaller feeder designs. The space between the perch and the feeding port on this model is 0.5cm. Do they think the birds legs have shrunk?? The minimum space you need is 2.5cm so this was never going to work. Then there's the lid - that's a challenge in itself to get back on. So nothing for it but to return the item. So disappointed. Tom Chambers - back to the drawing board and it's a nil poi from me.
