Droll Yankees RS-3HL 021964104832 Hummingbird, Outdoor Feeder with Hanger, 5 Oz, 3, Ruby/Lavender

When I saw this feeder I wanted to try it because of how cute it is. Saw it at my local backyard bird shop in the clear version with the ruby cover. They did not carry it in lavender or I would have purchased it there. The lavender color only looks lavender against a white background and otherwise adds a touch of gray to the cup which I think looks classy and blends the feeder into the landscape. The ruby cover is a deep, not fire engine red, also blending with the landscape beautifully. The lavender cup also has the effect of slightly darkening the red cover. We have been feeding the hummingbirds for 8 years now with feeders and flowers. We have Annas all year and Rufous spring and summer. Started with one feeder and now have 9. All our other feeders are by Aspects. Started with a HummZinger Mini and in time added 3 more. Last summer added 2 HummBlossom. This summer added the HummZinger Fancy, and one more HummBlossom and the Droll Yankees Ruby Sipper. We have many hummingbirds nesting in the area and see the young at the feeders. The birds are terrirorial and each one will try to own its own feeder. This summer in particular the hummers are quite numerous. One could not look out without seeing them either on the flowers, at the feeders or perched guarding their territory. They provide so much entertainment. The Ruby Sipper is constructed of the same durable plastic as the Aspects feeders and I expect it to last a lifetime. My Aspects feeders still look as good as the day I purchased them and I cannot tell which one was the first. The Ruby Sipper is packaged on a card with a zip tie and includes a brush to clean the ports. The Aspects feeders come in a very nice box perfect for storage or gift giving. The Ruby Sipper is a little less user friendly for setting out, assembly and disassembly before and after cleaning which is important to me so I am glad my other feeders are the Aspects brand as they are especially user friendly for multiple feeders. I am glad I purchased the Ruby Sipper. It is very cute and holds the perfect amount of nectar for our hummers. Have had it several days only, and have seen one young Anna's male check it out but not feed at a station where another feeder was frequently used. Will know more after it has been in use. The hummers need time to become familiar with it.UPDATE: After three summers of putting this out I have given up. It was used only a little. The birds at our house simply prefer our other feeders, most likely because that is what they are used to. I think if your birds are given this feeder from the beginning or if all other feeders are removed that they are used to, it may be accepted. It is an adorable little feeder.

Called the company to ask a question, and received an actual person the first time I called. Not ping ponged around. Helpful customer service.Item arrived quickly to Louisiana. Packed decently.The top is a really pretty burgundy, and the bottom is the palest lavender. There is a little 'stem' that sits on the bottom curve of the wire and the feeder has a small 'hole' that sits on top of/over this 'stem'. It is then balanced out and will not tip over.It is a VERY pretty feeder, however, my hummingbirds just will not feed from it! I got this because I DO already have a balloon shaped feeder that the hummingbirds love but the problem is, when they sit around the bottom rim of the balloon I can't see them on all sides. I thought with this one I'd be able to see them feeding ON TOP. A better view. See the pretty birds. No go. I even tried putting small sticky yellow binder rings around the holes in the top. The kind you'd put around the holes in paper to keep the holes from tearing...thinking the birds couldn't see or find the holes on top. No go. They've eaten from the feeder a total of 3 times. And it's been up a long time.I cannot think of another reason other than they got used to the pretty glass balloon feeder first. Now they're used to that. Like children who've gotten used to a certain pillow.I am still going to keep it. And I still have it up, because it's so pretty. Next year, when 'new' hummingbirds come to feed, they may use and get use to this one and I'll get a better result.I truly don't think it's the feeders 'fault' and I would definitely recommend it.

I like this feeder because it's nice to look at and for the small quantity of nectar it allows so there would always be fresh nectar, but I haven't had much luck with any of my hummers using it. I have many different feeders out there and they don't seem to like this one. It's almost as if they can't find the holes. I've seen several just hover over it then hovers onto another feeder. Oh well I have it out anyways just because I want them to get used to seeing it and just maybe one of them might try and challenge themselves to find the three holes on this feeder.

As good as it gets, 5 oz's is a 4-5 day supply unless you have more than 25-30 Hummers and multiple feeders is the secret to attracting more birds, yes it will take about 3 maybe 4 hours for the Hummers to adjust to this feeder but when they do they will perch on the included wire hook, perch to feed, hover to feed and defend feverishly, it's simple design is easy to fill, & easy to clean with included feeding port brush... Sleak and simple, very effective! I purchased four.

This is our third and smallest feeder. This one is closest to our house. It is fun because only some birds will come in this close and use the small feeder, so it is a special prize. It is very easy to clean. It is very attractive to the human eye and to enough birds.

Size was about what I wanted, so I was happy. Unfortunately, the hummingbirds just look at it and fly away. Have yet see one feed. Update: They finally have found it. I guess they were expecting the old feeder and didn't know what to think of this one.

I love feeding hummingbirds and have many hanging in multiple places, so they don't fight so much. This feeder is just the right size. It is easy to clean and fill with sugar water. the hanger easily slips onto hanging hooks. It is also nice to have extra feeders, so a fresh feeder can be put out as I'm taking in the empty one.

I'm not sure what to think, I've had it out for days and it's still full! I don't know if the birds know where the holes are?? Also, the cap is a VERY tight fit-look for the tab on the side to pry apart the two pieces

This is really tiny! (12cm wide x 3cm height). I was surprised at the size of it when it arrived, and it seems overpriced. I probably could find one at the dollar store for a better value. I was a bit disappointed since I was hoping it would be a focal point on the deck.

Très beau, facile à nettoyer et remplir, mais les colibris veulent rien savoir même après 1 mois!
